I got up this morning, still completely dark as I made my way to the washroom to sprinkle some cold water on my face to wake me up. This anxious excitement rush...ed through my veins as I prepare for a day distributing toys to children in our greatest need neighborhoods. Covid may have taken a lot from us but it wasn’t taking Christmas from these children. Dressed and out the door I’m on a mission to finish sorting out toys. The Urban Haven Project has been blessed with hundreds of gifts from Jeanny’s Angels who have countless partners that donated the items to be distributed by us before the craziness of new restrictions with Covid could limit our ability to get items to people. Covid has been a hard on all of us but the children shouldn’t have to pay for it. It’s an amazing day seeing the faces of the families that we are distributing to...some with nothing days before Christmas. That’s what we like the most about what we do as we meet people where they’re at and a tangible way, building relationships. As we go into the new year and as much as we don’t like to admit, it will still be tough for months to come but Urban Haven is committed to helping those living in our greatest needs neighbourhoods in London. The Urban Haven Project Sleigh was loaded up by Jeanny’s Angels and Carmen Alpaerts as it headed to our families living in London’s greatest needs neighbourhoods! Together we are making certain that covid doesn’t steal Christmas from the children.

Day 2 of spreading the Christmas joy to those living in London’s greatest needs neighbourhoods! Specialtjanks to Carmen Alpaerts and Jeanny’s Angels for supply...ing us with hundreds of gifts. There were countless stories today but two stand out. The first one was a single mom of four children who was questioning Christmas and God until we showed up to her door with just what she wanted. The tears not only flowed from her. The other was someone who, like many has been exhausted to been beaten up by the constant news of Covid19. A single mom of one, lonely, no family support was overwhelmed by the fact someone would think about her. The reactions from people were mainly disbelief that people would care enough to do what we did today. This is what makes what the Urban Haven Project does so worth it and we are grateful for our many partners like Jeanny’s Angels to see this happen! Urban Haven Project Jeanny's Angels
