Attention Kids aged 6 to 12 years ! We are offering our very popular Nature Club - the online version ! It is private to the group via Zoom ( no you don't need a Zoom account ). It will be one hour every Sat. at 10am for 7 weeks. Your child will learn about all the animal families and animal related topics , such as conservation, habitats, adaptations and much more. There will be interactive games and quizzes to engage your child and a weekly activity they can do during the week. The activity is designed to get your child outside and observing the world around them. The results of the activity will be discussed the next class. For more information and how the class is structured please visit the Nature Club page on our web site. https://urbansafari.ca/education/nature-club-2/

What a generous young man! Young Andrew had his 5th birthday. He came in today with his Mom and said, ' I want to help the animals'. He then donated part of his birthday money! Thank you Andrew! Every penny of your donation goes directly toward the care and housing of the 350 unwanted exotic animals at our facility. We wish you and your family all the best for the coming year.

Monty the Savannah Monitor Lizard! Savannah Monitors are a fairly large intelligent lizard native to grasslands of Africa. They are not naturally 'friendly'. They are carnivores so need to be trained to be nice and to tolerate handling. Lucky for us Monty's former owner did train him to be handle-able so we can get him out to walk around the facility and we can clean his cage without the risk of getting a nasty bite. Monty's former owner does come to visit him which is nice for everyone. We are open to the public for visits 11am to 4pm every day except Tues. & Weds. We have Covid cleaning protocols in place and everyone entering the building must wear a face mask at all times and sanitize hands at the door.

Kirby , the Blue Tongue Skink, snuggles down in a blanket of wood shavings to nibble on his lunch. Blue Tongue Skinks are native to semi desert grasslands of Australia and really do have blue tongues. They can stick out their blue tongue in an aggressive way to scare away predators. They are omnivores so they eat pretty much everything ( meat, insects, veggies ) - like us! People in Australia usually love to have them living in their gardens because they eat up the insects.
