If i can you can. I have been repainting and distressing furniture for more than 25 years. There are many people doing the same thing now. Some are really good at it. It’s not rocket science. Anybody can do it. No need to spend $30-$40. For a can of chalk paint make your own for $6-$8. Per can. Buy flat white, have it tinted if you want a colour other than white. Most stores don’t charge extra for tinting. Heres a tip when at a paint store ask to see their mistints. For ins...tance home depot charges $9. For their mistakes. You can sometimes get a $50. Gallon of paint for $9. (I think i have about 200 gallons of great paint colours right now. To get that smooth silky chalk paint finish try experimenting. There are several ingredients you can add in small amounts to regular latex paint. See which ones work best for you. Choose anyone of these to get your desired effect. Baking soda Non sanded tile grout Plaster of paris Calcium carbonate Just experiment To seal you can wax using those expensive chalk paint waxes that are hard to apply and your arm gets sore and doesn’t last forever. Try min wax to save money. I find the best thing to seal is water based satin urethane. Its not cheap about $70. Bucks a gallon but should do 10-20 pieces of furniture. I posted a pic for my goto colour code its been my best seller. If you want to repaint furniture and sell it, from my experience, white is most popular about 70% . Then black about 15%, and 15% any other colour. Just thought i would share.
Working on this cabinet today. It will be at the sale tomorrow, stop by if you can 10-4 pm. Still time to customize shelving and paint finish. Will post the finished pic in a few days.
Do you think we could change the name of our province from British Columbia to Buy Canadian? It would still be BC
Just finished another of these seaside cottage style cabinets. This one measures 90 tall 36 wide and 19 deep (outermost sizes). This is created from 3 old doors and vintage door hardware. I like to repurpose old doors and windows into one of a kind pieces of furniture. If interested and want to view or order something similar or different style of furniture. Stop by the shop and get a Free estimates. Open by appointment just give me a call.
