Last week, the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives published "Contract U: Contract faculty appointments at Canadian universities"; this study found that contract work (particularly part-time contract faculty) are accounting for more than half of all university appointments!... Hey Urban Workers! What have you been reading this week? We caught up on this piece written by Sara Mojtehedzadeh From the article: "The newly announced updates to the Canada Labour Code would impact workers in federally-regulated sectors like airlines, telecommunications, trucking, and banks, which employ around 900,000 people across the country.... The vast majority of employees in Ontario rely on provincial employment laws for their rights on the job, but the federal measures are of particular significance for workers at Pearson International Airport who have long demanded protection against contract flipping and called for a federally mandated minimum wage." https://www.thestar.com//ottawa-rolls-out-new-worker-prote
Merci à Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada / Coopératives et mutuelles Canada, Desjardins, Cercle d'Affaires Belgique-Québec, The Urban Worker Project, Transform/er Montréal et beaucoup d'autres!
