Laura Verigin ( Nee Rilkoff) was A Major member of the Doukhobor Community. Her Husband John Verigin , was the Chairman of The Orthodox Doukhobor Community and And their Son - John Jr. is the Current Chair Man. Laura was most active in the Doukhobor Communities,- Choirs, Molenyie and Doukhobor Bridge Building in The Kootenays and Across Canada and Russia. My Great Grandmother Vera Hadikin went to elementary school with Laura Verigin in Brilliant - Our Family Knew The Verigins Very Well And Deeply Honoured Them. This will be huge to the community- Everlasting Memory- Вечная Память .

LAURA VERIGIN - May 15, 1926 - February 29, 2020. It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Laura P. Verigin at Trail Regional Hospital, surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 29, 2020. A traditional Doukhobor funeral will be held in Grand Forks on Friday, March 6th beginning at 7:00 pm (doors will open at 6pm) and Saturday, March 7th beginning at 10:00 am (doors will open at 9am) at the USCC Community Centre followed by a luncheon in her honour in Gr...and Forks. After the luncheon in Grand Forks, our dear aunt Laura will make her last journey over the hill to Castlegar to the Brilliant Cultural Centre where the funeral service will continue Saturday evening (March 7th) beginning at 7:00 pm and Sunday morning (March 8th) beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Verigin Memorial Park on Sunday, March 8th followed by a luncheon in her honour in Brilliant. The Verigin family invites everyone to the services. Our family is deeply saddened as we inform you of the passing away of a precious individual, Dominica Sweet (Konken). For many years she journeyed courageously and gracefully with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She was a source of light, joy and compassion, and lived her life fully until her passing on January 30th, with her husband Derek and sons Jackson and Harrison at her side. A Celebration of Life will follow on Salt Spring Island, as well as a Memorial Service with burial in Gran...d Forks. Damanya is the daughter of Frank & Ruby Konken, and sister to Stefanie Zaytsoff, Frank Konken Jr and Jamie Konken. Sincere appreciation to all who have relayed kindness and support in so many ways.
