Some thoughts on the changing weather and rapidly approaching Fall... . Changing weather means less of our favourite fruits and berries, and more hearty foods like root vegetables, squashes, and greens. Grocery shopping with the seasons not only means increasing our food security by supporting local growers, but also reducing our environmental impact by putting less demand on imported food items. Focusing our fall and winter diets more on what is seasonally available does...n’t mean sacrificing flavour, either! To keep your diet full of tasty locally grown goodies, check out South Island FarmHub, a group of inspiring humans working hard to create a one stop shop where you can find seasonally appropriate, island-grown foods and have it all delivered right to you! For recipe inspo, think squash soups, pumpkin pies, roasted beets and more . Alright so we know we’re not food producers or chefs, we make soap. So why do we talk so much about food? Because all of our soap ingredients come from the same place as the food we eat - dirt. Our ingredients are grown from the earth, same as all the delicious foods that nourish our bodies. We have always been and will continue to remain ever conscious of how our ingredients are grown, how those that produce them are treated, and how these things affect us in our own lives. There is something to be said about the seasonality of our ingredients - They grow in warm climates in mostly equatorial regions where temperatures and sunlight hours are relatively constant. This means that with sustainable farming techniques, our oils and butters are available year round and our bulk purchases continue to support the beautiful humans that produce them. For our seasonal releases, we’re focusing on incorporating leftover seasonal fruits and vegetables from local producers into our products. Not only does this add fun colours, but it also changes up their skin-loving properties by adding different fatty acid and vitamin profiles! People + planet first, always . Now, back to enjoying this lovely summer rain. Catch us at James Bay Market tomorrow from 9-3 See more

We’ve teamed up with our awesome friends at @farmordieagriculture to turn some of their ugly produce into... you guessed it, SOAP! Accessible sustainability is our ultimate goal, so putting excess to use in our all-natural formulations gets an A+ in our books. Stay tuned for our refreshing zucchini, cucumber, and kelp bars!
