United Steelworkers Local 4120's VP Sarah Whelan was a recent leadership student at Linden Hall. The class was tasked to take part in a Good Works Project. If there is more than one eligible candidate, the award will go to the one who has attained the highest relative class standing in his or her previous full-time semester, provid...ed that a minimum of 70% standing is obtained. The Peter Leibovitch Scholarship: Deadline: June 30, 2016 The United Steelworkers District 6 offers a $1,000 scholarship to the daughter or son of a Steelworker member in memory of Peter Leibovitch, a member of Local 8782 who embodied the true meaning of a labour activist committed to working people and their rights.
Workers Health and Safety Centre Scholarships: Deadline: June 10, 2016 Each year the WHSC sponsors a competition aimed at raising occupational health and safety awareness among students and other young workers. Scholarships are awarded to the winners.
