As winter approaches and more gas-fueled appliances are in use, do you know what to do if you suspect a gas leak? An odourant is added to natural gas so that you can smell it, in case of a gas leak. This compound mercaptan has a strong ‘rotten egg’ smell that helps keep you safe. If you don’t have a sense of smell, it’s important to install a natural gas alarm in your home, in accordance with manufacturer directions. ... If you are inside and smell gas or hear hissing, leave immediately. Do not do anything that could create a spark don’t switch a light on or off, and don’t use cell phones or lighters, for example. If you are outside, clear the area and do not use lighters or start vehicles. Call 9-1-1 when you are safe. For more details on natural gas and its safe use, see: https://utilitieskingston.com/Gas/Safety https://utilitieskingston.com/Gas/Safety/LeaksAndOdours https://utilitieskingston.com/Gas/Safety/CarbonMonoxide

Sewer overflows are a historical problem we are committed to improving. We are proud of our continued work to reduce overflows, including this recent sewer work on Earl Street. This improvement will reduce combined sewer overflows into Lake Ontario at William Street. It’s the sewer overflow location that overflows with the greatest frequency in our city. The work involves upsizing the 200 mm sewer pipe leading from the combined sewer overflow (CSO) tank on Earl Street to the ...Harbourfront Trunk Sewer. This larger 300 mm pipe will improve hydraulics and better convey wastewater from the CSO tank to the trunk sewer. A sewer overflow is when sewage from the sanitary and combined collection systems overflows to the environment. It is often a result of the sewers being too full. Watch this video: https://youtu.be/IIDZTwL7q-s to learn more about the problem and how Utilities Kingston is addressing it. We also offer real-time sewer overflow notifications to help you make a better-informed decision about recreational water use, at https://utilitieskingston.com/Wastewater/SewerOverflow/Map Photos by Kingston’s Paul Wash.

With TOU, the price you pay depends on when you use electricity. With Tiered prices, you can use a certain amount of electricity each month at a lower price. Once that limit is exceeded, a higher price applies. If you want to continue paying TOU prices, no action is required. ...
