This past Thursday during Life Groups, we spoke of the importance of hope and its relationship with sorrow. When looking at Jesus’s life - his parents’ story, where He was born, and His life overall, we witness the hope that exists amidst sorrow.Despite the sorrow we may face, we know that hope always came after!1 Peter 1:3-6 says, Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercyhe has given us new birthinto a living hopethrough the resurrec...tion of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritancethat can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,who through faith are shielded by God’s poweruntil the coming of the salvationthat is ready to be revealedin the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little whileyou may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. This encouraging reality is what we must also follow. We must implement hope within our everyday lives, regardless of what we may be facing, especially during this Christmas season. Christmas tells the story of how our hope came to existence. As Jesus went through his life, He faced many trials but always stayed hopeful because He knew his suffering would not go in vain. We too must follow in his great footsteps. Stay encouraged, keep enduring, and always remember that there is hope for all of us because of Jesus. Join us TONIGHT at 6PM as we continue our series and look at Joy.
Last week we began our series The Heart of Christmas. This 4 part series will prepare our hearts for the Christmas season by diving into what Christmas truly is from a Biblical perspective and why it is to be celebrated. Last week we started this series off by looking at why sorrow is part of the heart of Christmas. Throughout the Old Testament we see God’s people suffering in a multitude of ways. They were waiting for a Messiah to come and deliver them from this suffering,... and that’s just what Jesus’ birth started. Jesus came during a time of great suffering and even His entry into the world was not pleasant. We can see the process of Jesus’ birth from Mary and Joseph finding out about it, to having to travel all the way to Bethlehem, then to staying in a manger. Nothing was pleasant about this, there was a lot of sorrow involved. Christmas today is also tough, especially when it comes to money and loneliness. Christmas is not an easy time for many people and it is important to remember that and pray for those who experience sorrow during this time. Jesus entered the world during a time of sorrow and in due time He rescued the world from the grip of sin, in the same way this Christmas season we ought to share the story of Jesus with our friends and family so that in due time Jesus can rescue them from whatever sorrow they may be experiencing. The greatest sorrow of all for the church would be to go through this upcoming Christmas season, especially in light of COVID and it’s impact, and not share the true Heart of Christmas. Hope you can join us tomorrow as we jump into part 2 of our series, Hope! God bless.
