Wow, did we have fun today! Our "world premier" was a huge success. We nearly filled the house and they even had to print more programs for everyone. What a delight for our small but mighty orchestra to play for you. Thank you all for coming out to share this special concert with us. And thank you to Carol Gibson and the Huntsville Festival of the Arts for supporting our first concert! We are taking the rest of the summer off but will re-group in September. We will have ...a lot of work to do then as we have already been booked by the Rene Caisse Theatre in Bracebridge on October 21st! Here are a few pics from today's concert....
Huntsville Festival of the Arts "Music At Noon" concerts are now underway. Today's concert, featured our very own Alec Gibson on violin, along with his brothers Gregory and Cameron on piano and vocals. It was a fabulous concert guys! Congratulations! Don't forget, the Utterson Philharmonic will make its world premier on Monday, July 18th - at noon, Trinity United Church in Huntsville. We sounded wonderful at rehearsal tonight - we hope you will join us on the 18th! Then, on Friday, July 22nd you can enjoy Martha Kashap and Friends" in concert. Martha is our concert mistress and some of her musical friends include other orchestra members, Philip Kashap, Marloes Streppel, Alec Gibson, Kim Marley Barlow and Karen Richards. It too will be a wonderful concert I am sure!!
While our orchestra enjoys a couple of months off, our musicians play on! Congratulations to violinist Marloes Streppel on your award from the Muskoka Concert Band. We already knew what a great violist you are, but it was wonderful to hear you on sax. Alas, so little orchestra repertoire which includes the saxophone. Hmmmm....Ravel's Bolero next season perhaps? :)
If you enjoyed yesterday's concert, may we suggest Friday's Music at Noon concert, "Martha Kashap and Friends"? Martha will be joined by husband Philip Kashap and Alec Gibson, Marloes Streppel, Kim Marley Barlow and Karen Richards. Trinity United Church, Huntsville, 12:15 pm on Friday, July 22nd. See you there!
