UVIc AERO wins the 2018 Unmanned Systems Canada National Competition! This would not have been possible without the rest of our team back at home.
Happy Thursday everyone! UVic AERO just created a new Instagram account!! The team will be using this as a resource to upload cool weekly pictures and videos that will keep everyone updated with what the team is up to. The team's account name is: UVic AERO. Make sure you check it out!
The UVic AERO team has been busy getting its systems ready for their upcoming engineering student competition in May. Keeping themselves busy with work, the team’s spirits have recently skyrocketed by getting a chance to meet, and spending the afternoon with, Canadian astronaut Bjarni Tryggvason late last month! In the picture Michael Giles, James Sease, Shaun Wilkinson, and the team's faculty supervisor Afzal Suleman pose with Bjarni, who is holding the team's hexa-copter multirotor.

Good news everyone! New PCBs are in!
AERO has recently gone through its dropbox permissions and removed most members that haven't been around for a while. If anyone has worked on a project and wants a copy of their work for their portfolio or has been wrongly disconnected they can message us here.

The UVic AERO Team sent seven members to Alma, Quebec, April 30th to May 4th to compete against 13 Canadian Universities in the 2015 Unmanned Systems Canada Student UAS Competition. Teams participating in the competition were required to provide a situation report via an aerial survey of a simulated train disaster; teams identified potential hazards, chemical spills, damaged vehicles and structures, and people using an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). AERO successfully complete...d the challenge placing 2nd by identifying 38 objects of interest with multiple passes of the area in just over 30 minutes of flight time. The team would like to thank all of their sponsors and supporters over the past year, and congratulate all of the team's members on the outstanding result, their long hours, dedication, and hard work over the past 12 months definitely paid off.
