A team at Origen Air made up of several UVic alumni is collaborating with UVic Engineering and Computer Science on a two-year Mitacs-funded research project to ...support the building, testing and validating of new air purifier products. Origen Air, a local startup, aims to produce COVID-ready "effective and beautiful living air purifiers" to restore healthy living spaces. The company is led by CEO and co-founder Susan Blanchet, BA '97, LLB '02 (pictured), with Zac Andrus, BCom '12, MGB '19, serving as VP of marketing and Jonathan Van Es, BEng '20, on board as VP of Engineering. Co-founders Andrew Crawford (BA '00), CTO, and CIO Ryan Lider (BSc '17, BSc '19) are also alumni. "We are thrilled to have received this funding from Mitacs. It will help jumpstart our demonstration and testing and bring our air-purification systems to life at an accelerated pace," says Blanchet.
