And finally, last but certainly not least: Maika Houde is a first-year student at UVic completing a double major in English and Political Sciences. She finds great interest in politics, having previously participated in French high school MUN, youth parliament and staying actively up to date with global current events. Maika believes that MUN is an excellent opportunity to acquire new skills while working with others and to develop a deeper understanding of diplomacy. Through... leadership experiences, she acknowledges that a strong community is essential for success and always encourages others to engage actively throughout society. She is inspired daily by her family and friends, who continuously motivate and support her. In Maika's free time, she loves exploring the outdoors, going for coffee with friends and baking. Being the First Year Minister, Maika hopes to learn from other exec members and gain insight on how the Club operates. She encourages everyone interested in UVic MUN to try it out by signing up and participating in the exciting activities. See more

Isaac La Roy is a first-year student studying Political Science as his major and Business as his minor at the University of Victoria. He has been active in the Model UN community for over 7 years, and somehow still loves it! Having attended over 25 conferences and being a part of many more, he cannot wait until we can meet in person once again to talk MUN. In his free time, Isaac officiates hockey, plays video games and watches sports with friends and family. As your Minister of Education, he promises to do everything he can to educate new members on Model UN practices. The club is currently producing a MUN 101 video series to teach people new to MUN how it works. If you are thinking of joining and really do not know what it entails, watch out for these videos! They should help you out a lot.

Parker is a fourth-year biology honours student with a philosophy minor. Currently he is working hard on his honours project, an investigation of the possible use of lavender root extracts in treating iron overload in mouse nerve cells. He joined UVic MUN last year and has attended VicMUN, UBC MUN, and Harvard MUN. Parker has lived in Victoria all his life, and has spent countless hours working with horses, goats, and other animals on his family’s farm. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, both video and board games, and swing dance. Parker is looking forward to this year of MUN and the search for new ways to connect members of the club during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, as the only science student on club’s executive, he will do the best he can voice the opinions of any faculty of science club members.
