If you’ve heard sobbing, cheering, or the gentle hum of an electric motor from the roof of ELW over the past year, it was probably our Ground Segment Communications team (wizards?) hard at work building and testing our ground station! Standing at 5 meters tall, this top of the line ground station (designed, built, and operated by undergraduate students) has established contact with satellites as far away as 800km from earth! Thank you to our Sponsor Rainhouse Canada for inviting us to the 3rd Annual Rainhouse Engineering Competition. We had a great time talking with the community about our ORCASat Project, and winning the Commercial Viability Award was a plus! If you'd like to learn more about the ORCASat Project, visit ORCASat.ca
