Hi! We are looking for some financial support! To donate, see the link in our bio and scroll down to the make a donation button! https://www.gofundme.com/f/dec...ember-fundraiser Why we need funds: We receive most of the food distributed in the hampers through donations from local grocery stores. However, during the month of December, we only have access to Quadra’s gym 3 weeks out of 5. Because of this we have had to reduce the number of hampers that recipients will receive within the month. As a result, we are seeking funds to increase the size of the hampers we are able to deliver this month as well as include food that is more inclusive to dietary restrictions. In general, our funds go towards buying food to supplement hampers with staples and dietary specific food, gas money for any drivers who need it. These funds keep us going! DECEMBER NEWSLETTER FEATURE: ONLINE HOLIDAY SHOPPING We’ve compiled a list of amazing artisans who are involved in building a sustainable community. Here’s a few of our favourite businesses that have online shops perfect for pandemic holiday shopping! ~See our December newsletter at the link in our bio~ *disclaimer* ... The UVSP acknowledges that shopping local and sustainable in the strictest sense is not a personally sustainable option for many people. We recognize the systemic issues that block many members of our community from living eco-friendly lifestyles. We also acknowledge our privilege as urbanites on these unceded lands who have access to a wide range of markets and the freedom to choose where we spend our money. We hope to support everyone and work towards building a socially, economically, and politically sustainable community.
DECEMBER NEWSLETTER FEATURE: Sustainable Local Business Map we’ve compiled a resource map of our favourite Victoria businesses. These gems contribute to a sustainable community though stocking local goods and provisions, managing waste, up-cycling, using clean ingredients, and practicing natural methods. Next time you’re in the city, check one of these spots off the map! ~See our December newsletter at the link in our bio~
We support the BLUE FRIDAY 2020 initiative. Swipe through to learn why Canadian-based businesses are choosing to participate in Blue Friday instead of Black Friday. 100% of the proceeds go towards funding the Seabin initiative that helps remove marine debris from our oceans. #bluefriday #bluefriday #fuckplastic #saveouroceans #blueisthenewblack
