Our Snow King , Erick Aguirre Born in Morelos, Mexico, Erick Aguirre didn’t find his love for dance until he was 15 years old, having spent most of his chil...dhood playing all kinds of sports. He naturally started salsa dancing and joined a salsa company in Cuernavaca, Mexico. At that time he also furthered his education by studying more dance disciplines such as contemporary, jazz and hip hop, but began his formal ballet training soon afterwards at La Escuela de Bellas Artes Toluca. His desire to become a dancer came from training in classical ballet and one year later he was accepted in La Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey; one of the best schools for boys to study ballet in Mexico. After two years, Erick made the decision to audition and move to Victoria, Canada as part of Victoria Academy of Ballet’s Post-Secondary Bridge Program under the direction of Bleiddyn Bellis (Artistic Director, Fellow Examiner CSC-CIBC, Enrico Cecchetti Final Diploma) and KerryLynn Turner (Program Director, PDTD, former soloist Ballet BC). Last year he had a wonderful time performing in River-Port Productions The Nutcracker in the role in Russian, and is thrilled to join this year’s production of The Nutcracker in the role of the Snow King in the Snow Scene pas de deux.
