This year has been one of many experiences, much laughter and love, deeper family connections, hiking in the Rockies with @dabouche8 , home-life, school, a deeper look at my ethos and moral/political philosophy, and one more reason to celebrate how precious every single life is through more music, more outlets for creativity, compassion, communication and LISTENING. It has been a difficult year for many reasons as well, and I’m continuing to make peace with my inner wounds th...at do not need to come to light at this time. I am with you all in your hardships and I truly believe that taking time will help us reflect back and study this necessary season of great change in order to fully understand it’s impact on men and women. While birthdays are meant to help situate ourselves on this earth, I have taken this opportunity to refuel this fire for my art and my faith. Through these outlets I hope to continue helping others and give glimpses of hope where hope is most necessary. If anyone has heard my music, you know that I can go to dark places, feeling the weight of a collective darkness, the cry of hurting souls, injustice to marginalized groups in a system that wars between unseen walls, the unnecessary pressure of fast-paced life while forgetting to plant fruitful trees on an environmentally cancerous planet. These afflictions may be necessary to experience as an artist, to be able to transform these feelings into songs for all of us to make our journeys through them. Artists have been so important in my life and I can’t imagine going through my processes without them. I have made mistakes and may stumble based on how I view the world from my own lenses. One thing is for sure, the next generation of sociologists and anthropologists will have an insane amount of data to work from, especially if artists are the driving force behind healing, social and cultural change- light-light-light. We all have work to do and people to help and care for. I am taking this difficult and beautifully resounding calling and living it one day- one year at a time with God showing me where he needs me. That is what I am here for. Thank you for reading to the end:)
