This award is given to who have taken the initiative to support of social causes for Canadian and Mexican societies with selfless actions. ... She is absolutely GREAT! At the same time, I think that it shouldn’t be a surprise because she always sacrifice herself to people. She came to Canada by herself from Mexico alone, and she established a Mexican restaurant with a business partner 8 years ago. I met her 6 years ago when I asked for a job and she put me on her team! Her restaurant is always full of lively and welcomes everyone with Latin cheerful and warm people and music, of course homemade great Mexican foods. Now, she lets me have my yoga class, Cinco de Yoga- 5 Elements Yoga- on Sunday when the restaurant is closed from this October. If I’d describe her in one word it would be.....PASSION!! When the people is in trouble, she definitely help them like Super hero. I remember that on Saturdays night, she drives all the way to downtown Vancouver after close her restaurant and share the most popular burrito in the restaurant for homeless people who are hungry, even she’s exhausted from busy business for a week. If I were her, I would prefer to go home and get on the couch right after work. Also she likes to seat with homeless people on the sidewalk and listen what they think and feel. I’ve been there with her. And since last summer, she has started to host big fundraising events in North Vancouver to help poor children in her home country Mexico! She overcomes various difficulties, and large-scale donations are successful! Many children were given medicines, clothes, food, etc. She always inspires and influences me.
