It’s time for your eye exam!

As you prepare to chef-it-up this holiday season, keep this in mind as you chop up your next onion! A cut onion releases a gas called Propanethiol S-oxide, and when mixed with certain enzymes in the onion, it creates a sulfur gas that irritates the eyes and triggers your tear glands. Here's a tip: keep your onion refrigerated! Cold onion doesn't release that chemical compound as easily as it would if it were warm.

An undiagnosed visual problem like amblyopia can be the underlying cause of a child's ADHD or dyslexia diagnosis. Any child with a possible learning disorder should be brought in for a developmental visual evaluation to rule out any poor visual skills as the cause.

Wash your hands with soap and water before handling contact lenses. Place 1 lens in the palm of your hand, add a generous amount of solution, and gently rub with your finger for about 10 seconds in order to remove any buildup on the lens. Then, rinse the lens with solution. Repeat with the 2nd lens and ta-da! They’re ready to wear!
