For anyone out there who is feeling overloaded, achey, stressed, overwhelmed I would like to recommend this practice of gentle movement presented through PainBC by Neil Pearson. Calming down and gently moving your body is a great way to lessen aches and pains that are made worse by stress and worry. https://www.facebook.com/PainBc/videos/2612359169092696/

We are excited to be able to carefully re-open our clinic on June 1st, 2020 as part of Phase 2 of the BC re-opening plan. Please carefully read our newly implemented protocols (https://healthandsport.ca/covid-19-update/) for what to expect before, during and after treatments, which must be adhered to. You can now view my schedule and book online at healthandsport.ca... I hope you have all been doing well and staying safe. For those wondering when the clinic will re-open, we are hoping the beginning of June. Working out the best logistics and establishing safe return to work protocols and updating cleaning and screening procedures to make things as safe as possible for everyone. Updates will follow as soon as things are more clear. Thank you for your patience and please stay healthy and safe. Looking forward to seeing you all again and returning to doing what I am passionate about.

The clinic has been closed since March 14th and will be closed until we get the official thumbs up. For those of you who can work from home, I created a quick video with a few ergonomics tips to help avoid posture induced aches and pains. Stay safe and healthy and looking forward to seeing patients again once this pandemic settles down. Wishing you all the very best,... -Kevin

Long time no post. I wanted to let patients know that my availability has been extra low in 2020 due to preparation for and the arrival of our new baby girl which happened on February 6th. We are pretty well adjusted and my schedule is now open up until April and has much more space than it has had for the first part of the year. Thank you for your understanding, consideration and patience in this time of change for myself and my family. I look forward to seeing some faces soon that haven't been able to book with me in a while. Again, I can't thank my patients enough for helping me be able to do what I truly love doing. A photo of our new addition to brighten up your day, as she brightens up ours.

Things have been exceptionally busy in the last month and by all accounts will stay that way until the New Year. Thank you for your patience due to the limited availability. The good news: Kevin's schedule for November and December is now open. Try and book a spot that works before he is fully booked for the year!

Are you interested in the science behind your workouts? A recently published (April 2018) systematic review with meta-analysis concludes that "Massage seems to be the most effective method for reducing DOMS and perceived fatigue." This is great news for active people and massage therapists alike and reaffirms the healthcare benefits of massage as a complementary care strategy for active people. As the season changes to colder weather it is common for neck and shoulder pain to worsen. When a cold wind blows on our exposed necks the natural reaction is to shrug our shoulders to avoid exposure to the elements and lessen heat loss. This can lead to several types of neck and shoulder pain that can easily be prevented by wearing a scarf or clothing that is warm and appropriately covers the neck.
