Vancouver skateboard community and beyond Sunday at NOON at Jon Rodgers park join the skate community in a solidarity skate. It is not, has never been, enough to be not-racist. We must ALL fight & work together to dismantle white supremacy and global anti-blackness. This Sunday, Roll with us and show up for BIPOC lives in Vancouver. Any and all Black and Indigenous folks are welcome to come speak and have your voice heard, ESPECIALLY trans, queer, and femme voices. BLACK LIVES MATTER. INDIGENOUS SOVEREIGNTY MATTERS . The Vancouver park board reopened two city-owned golf courses on May 1 and 53 tennis and pickleball courts on May 9. West Vancouver reopened skate parks at Gleneagles and Ambleside on May 8, while Burnaby reopened skate parks at Metrotown and Confederation Park on May 13. Donna Powers, director of community relations and communications for West Vancouver, said the province of B.C. never ordered playgrounds, skate parks and tennis courts closed because of COVID-19. She said ...in the early days of the pandemic, outdoor sports fields and playgrounds were closed by West Vancouver and other cities and municipalities out of an abundance of caution. The Vancouver Skateboard Coalition encourages you to email our Vancouver Parks Board Commissioners at : [email protected] Our elected officials could stand to hear from people wanting the skate board parks of Vancouver reopened. https://www.google.ca//abdcbec3-9535-458f-8536-1965c1/amp/

Message from Vancouver Parks Board. 05/21/2020 Hello Skateboards,... We are aware the skate community is frustrated that our skate parks remain closed as part of the Park Board’s overall response to the risk of COVID-19. Timing of the re-opening of skate parks is based on the cautious and thoughtful consideration that the Vancouver Park Board along with the City of Vancouver is taking when it comes to opening all our facilities. We are taking a phased approach with opening our sports facilities and the next phase is expected to include soccer fields, baseball diamonds, outdoor courts and skate parks. The purpose of the video we are shooting is to feature safe physical distancing behaviors across a number of sports, including basketball, baseball, field sports and skate boarding. The video will complement the other PB videos we have done with regards to safe behavior during Covid-19. As we all know, we are not out of the woods yet and a spike in cases could set us much further behind than we are right now. Please be patient, skate the spots around the city you have discovered, keep your distance from one another and soon enough skateboard parks will be available to all. Thank you. Park Board

The City of Vancouver has closed Plaza . They do want to send the message that they feel that for the most part skateboarders have been staying out of the more public spaces and finding spots around where they live and it’s appreciated . So skateboarders keep up the social distancing , wash your hands .... you can skate at home just keep it slow and low
