Dear Hockey Families, BC Hockey has now addressed the recent order from the PHO to move our sport back into phase 2 activity. They also updated the regulation to maintain 3m distance from the original 2m. This was effective immediately. In order for me to facilitate this kind of activity there is too much logistics to work out before our practices scheduled tonight. I am cancelling all VMHA activity tonight Dec 3 so that I can meet with our team staff to provide programmi...ng to our kids that keeps them safe and adheres to the PHO, BC Hockey and Via Sport Guidelines for the remainder of the year. Your managers will be in touch with the details and outcomes of tonight’s meeting. I am truly sorry for the short notice and the constant roller coaster this has been. But I am fully committed to doing whatever I can to ensure kids have somewhere to play hockey whatever that looks like, however that is allowed. Stay tuned. Yours in Hockey, Matt

Good morning Bear Families! Lots of information to process over the last few days Please know that the board is working hard to ensure our kids stay on the ice and also ensure their safety. At this time, masks must be worn on the ice. ... We are going to meet with DOV today to investigate this further as it’s in conflict with viaSport guidelines. Once we know the direction the DOV is taking the Executive Board will meet to discuss next steps. When those steps are hashed out by the board it will be communicated to the membership. Good news! Below is an email we received regarding an updated covid policy from the District: Good Morning Ice Users, After speaking with, Northern Health, and at the District discretion regarding the mask mandate public health order issued November 19, 2020, masks must be worn in all permitted zones except on the ice surface. Attached is the District’s amended COVID 19 Safety Protocol for the Vanderhoof arena and below is a summary of those amendments for your reference.... The lobby washroom is open for Group B users’ groups (Group A will use washroom that has already been opened). Masks are required in all permitted zones within the facility except on the ice surface. No Public Skating will be permitted at this time. No Spectators are permitted in the facility. Storage areas remain closed. All communication to District Staff must be civil, failure to do so will result in loss of ice time for the remainder of the season. See more

NORTH CENTRAL AND NORTH WEST DISTRICTS PARTNER TO OFFER AA ZONE PROGRAMMING AT U15 AND U18 LEVELS BC Hockey, in partnership with the North Central and North W...est Districts have announced the two (2) districts have partnered to offer AA programming at the U18 and U15 levels for players between 100 Mile House to Prince Rupert. The AA programming will be administered jointly by the districts and operationally managed by Cariboo AAA Program General Manager Trevor Sprague. The North Central and North West Districts are excited to offer this opportunity players and the connection to the AAA program. The program will operate out of Prince George and be a billet program for players outside Prince George. The teams will potentially participate in the league and showcases for the 2020 2021 season, depending on regulations set forth by the Provincial Health Authority. The Zone Program has undergone significant changes and a review for this season with BC Hockey and the Districts responding to participate feedback to offer an affordable, skilled based developmental program for the North Central and North West players. The Zone team will compete against seven (7) other BC Hockey regional teams including along with possible showcases against Pacific Coast district teams: East Kootenay North East Okanagan-Central Okanagan-North Okanagan-South Okanagan-Thompson West Kootenay The dates for the team’s identification camp will be September 11-13, 2020 in Prince George. The Northwest District is hosting a call about Female Teams on August 20th. VMHA encourages all of our female players' and families to attend. Please watch your emails for more details and the link to the call. For more information please visit the NWD website (northwestdistrictmha.ca) and look under the Upcoming Events Tab.

VMHA has been working with the DOV, NWD, BC hockey and ViaSport regarding Return to Play! Stay tuned for details. We WILL have hockey and there will be limited travel opportunities!

Information has been released on NWD teams under Bulletins and NWD Team Staff applications have been opened in Team Snap.
