As our season winds to a close, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate what a season it was! With early-bird orders, sales, giveaways, and a new virtual way to shop, not even COVID-19 could keep us down! Thank you all for a wonderful season. Though we werent able to see you in person, we so enjoyed talking with you over the phone, delivering your orders to your porch, and filling your trucks full of plants! You might think canna lilies are related to lilies, but in fact, cannas are related to the gingers, bananas, heliconias, and birds of paradise! This tropical plant produces big, bright paddle-shaped leaves and beautiful flowers that grow in shades of red, orange, yellow, and pink, and can grow 2-3 feet tall. A true joy to have in your garden, these colourful blooms are long lasting, hardy, and low maintenance! Their bright colours also attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Coleus is probably one of the easiest plants to grow and they arent just for shade anymore! Heat and sun-tolerant varieties are widely available, making these plants a popular choice. Their beautiful bold foliage makes them the centre of attention no matter where they are planted. Technically considered an evergreen perennial, coleus are usually grown as annuals because these tender tropicals dont do well in even the slightest bit of frost. Ferns are some of the oldest plants in the world. In fact, there are over 10 000 known species! We love them because they are extremely forgiving and have an incredibly strong survival instinct. Ferns will grow where other plants fail to thrive and most do well in rich, well-drained soil with an abundance of organic matter.
