In a time of such uncertainty for those in the live music sector, artists, venues, promoters and festivals alike have been forced to adapt in exceptional ways in order to continue to share magical live music experiences from a distance. The festival fabric suffered a significant tear on Saturday November 7 with the passing of Peter Kidder. He left us while in the company of family and dear friends, and in the thoughts of a broad community who enjoyed his company. Peter’s name first appears in our 1982 festival brochure as a member of the Traffic Committee (which was later tagged as Neighbourhood and then Community). He served as a member and as a coordinator of that committee for many years. And he also contributed significantly to the good humour of other interactions among the festival community, especially at the after hour parties. His was a joie de vivre and a wit that will be sorely missed. Live Stream Concert featuring Le Vent du Nord Saturday, November 21st 2020 at 5pm Tickets $20 at www.roguefolk.bc.ca/concerts/ev20111219 Our friends the Mission Folk Music Festival and the Rogue Folk Club have joined to present, award winning and highly acclaimed band, Le Vent du Nord. Featured at VFMF 2019, they are a joyful and leading force in Quebec’s progressive francophone folk movement. The group’s vast repertoire draws from both traditional sources and original compositions, while enhancing its hard-driving soulful music (rooted in the Celtic diaspora) with a broad range of global influences.

One of our great VFMF volunteers (Volunteer Party) Brooke, has suffered a terrible accident. We are sharing the go fund me page for her recovery needs and send our best wishes to her and her loved ones.

Tré Burt (one of the artists who planned to play VFMF 2020) wrote "Under The Devil's Knee" in response to the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. Leyla McCalla, Allison Russell and Sunny War, all artists who have played VFMF, join him on the song and video. The video, produced by Karlos Rene Ayala was shot on iphones remotely. On hearing the song, Dr. Cornel West said "Tre Burt is a grand artist and freedom fighter, straight out of my hometown of Sacramento!
