Carlson’s Group of Companies, like most business during Phase 1 of the COVID-19 response, moved quickly to a work from home protocol. This proved effective not only to protect staff, but to ensure our clients were protected and work could continue. As we all move to Phase 2 of the response, we have amended our protocols for working in the office in addition to continuing to refine protocols for those who work from home. These guidelines are mandatory for our employees and wil...l ensure that, on a minimum of a monthly basis, workplace risk and well being assessments are conducted and monitored. Kim Stanley, Division Manager HSEQ for Carlson’s Vancouver Pile Driving, states The policies are reflective of the fact that work from home is an extension of the workplace and should be treated as such. We must ensure that all workers are healthy and safe whether in the office or working from home. Carlson continues to monitor the situation closely and meet or exceed all current governmental and WCB guidelines for a safe workplace.

In this unprecedented time, Carlson Construction Group of Companies Brymark Installations, Corwest Fabrications and Vancouver Pile Driving continue to ensure the safety of their workforce both onsite and at home. We will be sharing a few of the stories about our people who are keeping things going and making sure they’re done safely. Naomi Bagatella - Reception, Vancouver Pile Driving Naomi is one of the front-line staff who is not working from home at the moment. Work...ing the welcome desk at Carlson Construction Group, she is literally front-line! Tasked with controlling the entry to visitors and only letting permitted staff and workers through the main doors, Naomi is the first point of contact. She wears a mask and gloves and consistently sprays down high traffic areas such as the front desk and doors. Additionally, Carlson has mandated all companies adopted strict rules for couriers, materials delivery and other operational tasks. Thanks to people like Naomi, we keep our operations running in a safe and professional way! shorturl.at/kIZ36

In this unprecedented time, Carlson Construction Group of Companies continue to ensure the safety of their workforce both onsite and at home. Here are a few of the stories about our people who are keeping things going and making sure they’re done safely. Mag Abdalla, IT Carlson Construction Group One of the unsung heroes in this move to remote work is our Information Technology group. As the scramble to add the capabilities to an expanded work from home force grew, Carlso...n’s IT department needed to step up and provide resources and support to ensure people were able to connect as if they were at the office. As Mag says We had about a week to get everything ready and set up. That was a real scramble. One of the biggest challenges was getting a hold of everyone to make sure they were compliant. But we managed to get everyone working remotely and safely. Here are some of the momentous tasks IT had to deal with to get everyone moved over to a work from home scenario: - Set up all users with VPN and remote desktops - Balance servers for optimal performance under the circumstances - Maximize ms teams for conference calls, online meetings - VOIP call connections The IT team also provides in-office maintenance once a week. Safely done of course!

On Feb 9, 2019, a severe wind storm caused significant damage and property loss to Sewell’s Marina in Horseshoe Bay. This week VanPile helped install the new breakwater. The breakwater looks like a ‘Tuning Fork’ and is approximately 660’ long, 50’ wide on the East end and 100’ wide on the west. Here's footage of the breakwater installation. From this view, you can really appreciate the size and scale of the project!

The upgrade work at Camp Potlatch is now complete! The Camp has been serving the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC since 1944, hosting more than 1000 campers every summer! The dock is not only a focal point for the numerous water activities that go on daily at the camp, but also provides the only access for the transportation of campers, staff, equipment, and supplies to the water access only facility. VanPile, with partner Ausenco, were able to work together through donated time and reduced rates to successfully demolish and rebuild the new dock in time for the summer festivities!
