Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming choosing the perfect pair of runners when there are hundreds of different models available in the market today. Here are some things to look out for when purchasing a new pair of runners! The posture of your foot is important to consider when selecting a pair of runners. Matching your foot morphology is a great way to help reduce injuries. Runners with pronated feet: ... This is when the foot excessively rolls inwards and places most of your weight on the inside rather than the ball of the foot. Motion control shoes are recommended for these runners to provide more support inside the shoe to counterbalance the inward roll. Runners with neutral feet: Neutral stability shoes are recommended for runners with neutral feet. These shoes provide moderate cushioning and some motion control characteristics. Runners with supinated/under-pronated feet: These are individuals with high arches in their foot. Cushioned shoes are recommended to allow for more pronation and shock absorbency to reduce harsh impact forces. #vansportsphysio #vancouverphysiotherapy #runners #runningshoes #physiotherapy #livelifeactive #vancouver #physio

Our physios got together this grey ominous morning to swing our clubs and talk about golf injuries, biomechanics of a swing, and mechanics of injury risk in a golf swing. Good session this AM looking at our amateur swings! Where and what muscles work Eccentrically, concentrically and transitions. Ranges required and joints. Compression loads on joints and much more. ... Nothing like actually doing it to ‘feel’ where problems may occur. #vansportsphysio #physiotherapy #physio #golfphysio #golfswing #golfmechanics #golf #livelifeactive

Reach down with your hands toward the floor for 5 counts. Stretch and reach up to the ceiling for 5 counts. Repeat 3 times. ... . Lunge forward with your right foot until your right leg is bent 90 degrees. Your left knee should be hovering above the ground and your left foot standing on your toes. Push left hip forward and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat on other side. . Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Grab right ankle/foot with right hand and pull your ankle/heel back toward your backside. Hold for 30 seconds. Repeat on other side. . Stand a few inches from a wall. Put toes on right foot against the wall, while keeping heel on the floor. Flex your foot (move body towards wall) and hold for 10-15 seconds. Maybe you’re sitting down for longer periods of time, have a different type of chair than your body is used to or maybe you just feel like you could benefit from some stretching? Whatever the case, it’s important to take breaks every once in a while when you’re working. We’ve put together 3 quick stretches that you can easily do in a couple of minutes. Psst, keep an eye on our feed. More good stretches are coming!... . Sit straight up with your head facing forward. Slowly turn your head side to side, as far as feels comfortable. . , Hold your arms up 90 degrees in front of you with your elbows bent, move them out to your sides until they line up with your shoulders or are within a pain-free range, slowly return to starting point. . Seated on chair, cross opposite ankle over opposite knee. Apply gentle pressure on leg that’s crossed until you feel a gentle stretch in your hip. Hold for 10-15sec x 3 each side. Avoid position if uncomfortable in knee. #vansportsphysio #physiotherapy #physio #therapy #stretching #homeoffice #workingfromhome #stretch #vancouver #downtownvancouverphysiotherapy #vancouverphysiotherapy
