The Law Courts Inn was founded by directors of the Vancouver Bar Association. They wanted to bring the local legal profession together on a daily basis by estab...lishing a dining and social club for lawyers and judges, modeled after the Inns of Court in London, England. Vancouver’s Inn has been open to the broader public for 40 years. Do you have a great memory from the Law Courts Inn -- an important connection made over lunch or a special moment spent overlooking the reflecting pool? Share your recollections and find out how you can help save this unique Vancouver venue. Our landlords are refusing to renew our lease. https://lawcourtsinn.com/save-the-inn/ See more

A Letter from the Law Courts Inn Society:

Vancouver Bar Association 13.06.2020

MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD - 2020 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING -- FEEDBACK REQUESTED 2020 has been an unprecedented year for both the VBA and the world. Due to public health restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic, the events traditionally hosted by the VBA through the year have not been possible. In all likelihood, the VBA will also not be able to hold its AGM in the format we have all come to know and love - namely, an in-person banquet for over 500 members at the Hotel Vanco...uver. The VBA Board would like to hear from members about the options being considered for the 2020 AGM and Board elections. We ask that members provide any feedback you may have by July 30, 2020 via email to [email protected] with the subject line "VBA AGM feedback". Option 1 is to hold the AGM virtually and elect an incoming slate of 6 Board members, as in past years. Other organizations have transitioned to virtual AGM formats this year. If this option is selected, the election for Board positions would be facilitated via voting software. Option 2 is to hold the AGM virtually and, by special resolution, extend the term of the current VBA Board by one year, until the 2021 AGM. A primary benefit of this option includes retaining institutional memory through this unprecedented year and into what we hope will be a recovery year in 2021. The VBA Board is willing to continue to volunteer their time for the additional year. If this option is selected, a special meeting to amend the bylaws would be held in the months prior to the AGM. For either option, the Hyndman Award Committee has decided that the Peter S. Hyndman Mentorship Award will not be given out for the 2020 year.
