A very quick update on the status of indoor soccer for the fall/winter of 2020/2021----presently, members of the VDSA, the Credit Union rec complex and Soccer Nova Scotia are working together on a plan that may enable certain programs to take place. As everyone can appreciate, during these unprecedented times, the safety of all players, familys, officials, etc has to be the very first priority. Stay tuned for more information to be released in the near future. Thank you for your continueed patience
The latest update---lets all hope for fall winter indoor soccer Dear Club Presidents and VDSA Soccer Families I am writing to provide an update related to return to play for soccer in Nova Scotia and more specifically our region encompassing the Valley District Soccer Association (VDSA).... Soccer Nova Scotia has confirmed that, in our effort to follow current public health protocols and in partnership with inter-district, district and provincial leagues, no formal sanctioned competition for the 2020 summer season will be offered in Nova Scotia. This includes exhibition games, league games, tournaments and provincial championships. This means that all of the VDSA youth and adult age leagues up to and including recreational, Masters, 7-Aside, and Senior Women and Men are postponed. Soccer NS has developed a Four Phase Return to Soccer Activity Plan. Phase 1 is projected to begin in early July and will involve on field activity with small groups respecting social distancing restrictions. Games in the format that our players are used to participating in, will occur in Phase 4, and there is no confirmation as to how long it will take to reach this point. In terms of VDSA clubs, Valley United Soccer Club is exploring online training programs tailored to fitness and technical skills, as well as social media opportunities to keep their members engaged. On-field training is not scheduled at this time. All other VDSA Clubs have suspended their operations for the summer season, and will turn their attention to the 2021 summer season. It will be up to individual clubs to determine their own capacity to plan for return to play for the indoor season. These are extraordinary times and I appreciate the loss of physical activity and social enjoyment that all of our players and coaches are experiencing at this time. I also appreciate the efforts of the many volunteers in our VDSA clubs, who have been working to navigate this unprecedented experience. This is a difficult time and we need to work together to do our part to ensure everyone’s safety and health. We will support each other and ensure that soccer returns to the VDSA as soon as possible. Sincerely James Sanford VDSA President
The VDSA has made the decision that any Valley based tournaments, and all of our youth and adult age summer leagues up to and including recreational, Masters, 7-Aside, and Senior Women and Men are postponed until the 2021 summer season. Soccer NS will be submitting a Return to Soccer Plan for the province through Sport NS. That plan will be informed by Canada Soccer and their development of a national return to play framework. Once the Soccer NS plan is approved, there will be further consultation with Clubs, Districts and Leagues to discuss the plan, the steps required within the plan and potential dates to resume organized soccer within the social distancing framework.
Dear Valley District Soccer Association (VDSA) players, family members. coaches, volunteers, and staff. In response to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Soccer Nova Scotia has ceased all in-person activities, effective March 13th, 2020 until further notice. All provincial Districts, Clubs and Leagues have also ceased in-person operations until further notice, to ensure the health and safety of our players, coaches, match officials, spectators and administrators. ... Although the status of play is unknown at the present time, we very much hope that the resolution of our current situation may allow for the conclusion of the indoor soccer season and permit a summer soccer season this year, perhaps with a delayed start. The priority today is to ensure that individuals and families in our communities are safe, healthy, and caring for each other. The VDSA strongly encourages everyone to continue to adhere to the public health directives, for the benefit of our entire province. The important information you need to know is located online at: https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/ The VDSA will continue to communicate information helpful to our members clubs and families as it becomes available. We will enthusiastically join the efforts to return our communities to the active, engaged places they are intended to be when we can safely do so. Yours in soccer VDSA Board of Directors
