Have you considered learning gif-making but never got around to it? The opportunity for you to learn more about it is now! Vector Festival 2020: Online Edition hosted a workshop called A Queer Guide to GIF-making by Alex Jensen and we have made the recording of the workshop available for your perusal! As part of this workshop, participants will learn how to make animated GIFs from images and videos using the open source image manipulation software GIMP 2.1. This tutorial focuses primarily on creating GIF animations from video footage with the intent that participants explore themes of identity, queerness, and adolescence in their creations; however, participants are welcome to bring all kinds of imagery and animation projects to work on! Check out the full tutorial below

Navigating a COVID art world was on our minds when we were considering how to create Vector Festival 2020: Online Edition. That was the reason we invited some fellow curators and cultural organizers to discuss how lockdown-imposed ‘social distancing’ measures are impacting curatorial practices what are the challenges and opportunities of moving cultural events online, and how are well-known formats (from exhibitions and screenings to live drawing sessions and performances) changing in response? Vector Festival 2020: Online Edition was an incredible opportunity to learn many skills through some amazing workshops. We received many requests to record A to Z Experimental Chatroom by Xin Xin and we heard your calls! The workshop is now available on our youtube channel for you to access. A to Z Experimental Chatroom visits the past, present, and future of experimental communication software. In this part-seminar/part-demo workshop, we will be learning and considering how... chatrooms built during Web 1.0 and 2.0 shaped an evolution of user habits and social relations. Then we will imagine and explore alternative modes of social gathering and community organizing through prototyping and play. At the end of the workshop, we will distribute technical tutorials and resources for those interested in building their own experimental chatrooms. Make sure to check out the full youtube playlist for captioned workshops from Vector Festival! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85DtvbA6u5g
