Veda Yoga 03.02.2021

What an incredible week. On Saturday when the news broke about the new restrictions for gatherings, I felt like I had been kicked in the stomach. There was no time to prepare for this, and with only 5 business days to come up with a solution, it felt that all our hard work to date had been for nothing. ... What was equally challenging was the scarcity of direction, calls to lawyers, the OPP and even the parliament office made it hard to understand what we COULD do under the...se regulations. ... One of our students, Christine Marshall, who I used to know as a fellow yogi and now know as solution finder extraordinaire, suggested we contact the Bracebridge Fairgrounds.... and by Tuesday afternoon I had seen the incredible space and signed a contract. However we were not out of the woods yet! ... The weather - now looks to be glorious - was calling for storms, so being inside seemed a better idea. On the advice of the Town of Bracebridge, we worked closely with the Simcoe Muskoka Health District Unit and at 1:33pm on Friday, we received the final green light to go ahead! ... Talk about keeping faith. It would have been easy to give up at many points along the way. But we kept working on in the background, trusting that we were in alignment with what the universe wanted to happen. And I guess the universe wants a yoga festival to happen! ... So thank you. To all the participants who bought tickets, to the vendors putting together some beautiful things to sell, to all the donors for our silent auction, the musicians who will serenading you and to the band of volunteers/yogis/friends who made this all possible. .... Namaste. Until our mats meet again. See more

SELF-CARE WEDNESDAYS... When I first opened Veda Yoga, I didn't know how to manage energy, and every few weeks would get to a point where I was just so incredibly emotional having soaked up energy from everyone who passed through the door. Since then I have been fairly regular in making sure that I take care of my own healing so that I can keep my energy tanks full and clear.... And my secret weapon is my dear friend Lynn Rogerson. I would consider Lynn to be not only my spiritual mentor but also the most incredible intuitive healer. Imagine a healing session that includes massage + sound healing + intuitive guidance. I literally float out of a session feeling lighter and clearer. And every time is different, depending on what I'm needing at that time. I've learned from Lynn how to tap into my intuition and trust the messages I receive to be of service to my students. We are all so gifted and sometimes just need someone like Lynn to 'open' us up to the latent power within us all. Wednesdays I don't teach yoga and it had been a while since I last saw Lynn. She did not disappoint. I'm writing this feeling a different person from the one who woke up this morning. My heart feels completely open, not to mention my legs and back after her deep tissue massage! Lynn takes appointments at her home spa in Port Sydney and if you want just a beautiful healing experience, don't hesitate to reach out to her via email [email protected]. Now more than ever we need to take care of ourselves, and that includes our energetic and emotional levels of being. Can't wait til it is time to see Lynn again! Namaste. Until our mats meet again. I'M BACK! Routine is super important for me, as is sleep and although I have been managing to prioritize making sure that I get at least 8 hours of deep rest, my routine has gone out the window. And so I'm diving back in with the 28 Days Ayurvedic Cleanse Students from the Bracebridge and Huntsville studios to re-integrate the daily rituals and routines that support me so much.... I usually wake between 5 and 6. I set an alarm but I never need it. Biscuit - my dog - is the first to get my attention. Second is the toad that sits outside our front door during the night and early morning. I learned early on not to leave my rubber boots outside as he likes to jump inside and yes there was a squishy foot forcing into boot episode. Toad lived to tell the tale! Next is preparing my Spiced Apples - an Ayurvedic tip to ignite the digestive fire (agni). I peel, core and cube the apple and add it to my baby crockpot with 3 whole cloves and by the time I am ready to leave I have the most delicious morning snack and the whole house smells like apple pie! Spice Water or Wise Water is next. I'm using the Pitta formula to take out some of the extra heat in my body right now. I add my spices to boiling water in a thermos to drink on throughout the day. More on the benefits of this in another post. But think purification - detox and balancing. And then I get to meditate. I practice Heart Based Meditation, which is an effortless based style of meditation and I sit for 20 minutes. And finally I indulge in some reading. I'm reading Marissa Peer's 'I am enough' right now. And that's it. And boy, what a difference I already feel and I know for me that my day is far smoother when I keep on track. Now off to teach 4 yoga classes - which is when I get to tap into the physical and energetic me..... Wishing you all a beautiful week. Namaste. Veda Yoga is so honoured to introduce a new teacher to the Bracebridge Studio....Bonnie Greavette. Bonnie is no stranger to the studio and has been a fan of Veda Yoga since it opened, loving the heat, the community and especially the classes with great music. She will be teaching a variety of classes and each with its own style from Classical to Tibetan Singing Bowls that she plays herself to Soulful tunes.... As we open both studios up 'fully' with still the current capacity restrictions but FULL HEAT ON we can't wait for you to try Bonnie's classes. Our Wednesday night Out-door Prenatal Classes are going indoors for the fall. We have just loved sharing in this exciting time with our group of new moms, and as the weather becomes cooler we are moving into the comfort of the Huntsville Studio. Although primarily a hot yoga studio, for our prenatal classes, the studio will be at a comfortable heat. What we love too is the sharing and community that we enjoy during and after class. It is such a great opportunity to share ex...periences and connect with other moms at a time when it can be easy to feel isolated. Your prenatal teacher - Natasha Bryant is a yoga teacher, professional dancer and performer and mother of two. During both of her pregnancies she relied heavily on her yoga practice to prepare for the birth and support her during the pregnancy. Natasha's soothing and nurturing teaching will be a beautiful way to enjoy this special time - we hope you can join us. You can register on the MindBody app or visit our website www.vedayoga.com/events. We only have 8 spots, so if you are interested please do register soon. If you have further questions please call Sarah on 705 349 0849. P.S. Let us know if you are a mom in Bracebridge and interested in Prenatal Yoga there too! #yogamuskoka #prenatalyoga #muskokamoms
