Hey gang! We are in the thick of fall, and these days root vegetables are in the prime of their lives. If you're like me, I tend to go for the usual suspects: potatoes, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Buuuuuut, why not show the other veggies some love?? ... I'm talkin' turnips! Preachin' about parsnips! Cheerin' on celeriac! Raisin' the roof for rutabagas!! Here's a recipe showcasing those rootie beauties, using just 8 simple ingredients! This would be an awesome side dish, or let it share the spotlight next to a hearty bowl of stew. Leave a comment with your favourite root vegetable, and bonus points for sharing a recipe! https://www.onegreenplanet.org/vegan/root-veggie-au-gratin/

The standards for raising a chicken fit for slaughter is a drastic shift from a century ago. From Faunalytics: "Animals raised for food live in cramped conditions. #Layerhens in caged systems are given less space than a letter-sized piece of paper, making it impossible to spread their wings. Things are also bad for #broilerchickens, who have been bred for efficiency by making them grow larger and faster. In 1920, chickens raised for meat were slaughtered at around 112 days... old weighing 2.2 pounds. By 2012, that number changed to 47 days old, with chickens slaughtered at a weight of 5.8 pounds." These beautiful, social, highly intelligent creatures deserve more than this cruelty. #govegan
