As the holiday season approaches, so does our Happy Holidays program! With the pandemic, the need is greater than ever for local families as the restrictions required to combat COVID-19 affect the economy here and around the world. We are humbly requesting your help again in 2020. Due to public health guidelines and the second wave on everyone’s mind we are working to ensure our program safe and deliverable. This year we are asking donors to donate funds to us directly so... that we can buy gift cards for families in the area to keep our donors, clients and staff safe by avoiding the interaction and logistics required by gift buying and giving (usually the best part). But we still need your help. You can easily give a Happy Holiday to a family in need via www.veithhouse.com - click the big red Canada Helps button or choose Paypal or send money via Interac to [email protected]. Remember to tell us who you are and that the funds are for the Happy Holidays program. Of course, we can still take a cheque if that’s your preferred method: our mailing address is 3115 Veith Street, Halifax Nova Scotia, B3K 3G9. Questions? Email us at [email protected] or us on 902-453-4320. We will answer any questions and take any feedback. Just say you want to talk about Happy Holidays!
Again we would like to congratulate Saida Gazie on winning the Invisible Champions award and thank those who helped make it possible by providing such an amazing opportunity! Bhayana Family Foundation, United Way, Community Sector Council of Nova Scotia and the province of Nova Scotia.
Update on our Happy Holidays Support for families in need: Over one hundred families have registered for Happy Holidays so far! In fact, we have put a hold on registrations as we work fundraise enough for the families who have already registered but we’ll take more applications when we are sure we can meet the need. We need your help! This year we have changed the program to ensure it is safe and deliverable during the pandemic, even if more COVID restrictions are imposed. ...This year we are asking donors to donate funds to us directly so that we can buy gift cards for families in the area to keep our clients and staff safe, by avoiding the interaction required by gift buying/giving. We can still reply to requests for specific numbers of people or types of family, and in January we will share stories with you about the families helped, and how their needs were met. Once you have done your collection or decided how much you have to give, you can give a Happy Holiday to a family in need via our website. Click the big red Canada Helps button or donate via Paypal or send money via Interac to [email protected]. Remember to tell us that the funds are for the Holidays program and tell us who you are, updating any contact details necessary so we can stay in touch. We encourage you to donate by December 1, so we have time to buy and disburse all the gift cards, in good time for people to go shopping for gifts and food. Questions? You can email us at [email protected] or call Veith House on 902-453-4320, and we will explain any details and take any feedback. Just say you want to talk about Happy Holidays!
This is what a shopping trip for our breakfast and after school snack programs looks like! 1 cart can barely get us through a week anymore. If you’re interested in making a donation please contact Erika at [email protected]
