Any coach can unlock the weight room and tell their players to "lift weights," but "strength training" is a whole different mindset. "Lifting weights" is like going out to the hockey rink each day to "play," while "strength training" is going out to "practice and execute." We teach our teenage athletes to make sure they are always eating a nutrient dense - whole food diet. We also encourage them to avoid sugar & processed foods as much as possible. However - we were all teenagers once and we also encourage them to have 1 day per week - to eat whatever they want. ... The other 6 days of the week is when - they need to be strict with what they are eating and drinking. Giving teenage athletes the chance to eat the foods that they enjoy but shouldn’t eat 6 days a week - is extremely good for them. It’s important for them to spike their calories one day per week.
