Congratulations Charlie McGinty! Charlie is VDRC’s Volunteer of the Year. This award is donated and presented by Kim Shippam in memory of her mom, Liza. New this year, Charlie will also receive a free VDRC membership for 2021. Also, congratulations to Penny Bearss. She won the annual volunteer draw. The prize this year was $100 Visa Gift Card donated by Keelly Gordon.

Congratulations Holly Keyton! Holly is the 2020 recipient of the Horse on Course Horsemanship Award. This award is given to a person who displays the utmost care and attention to their equine friend. It was started by Val Woida in 2012.

Typically, the Vernon Riding Club raises the majority of its annual funding through four horse shows that occur between April and August. These events have been cancelled due to COVID-19. We are now looking at innovative ways to help bridge the gap until we can get back to our regular programming next year. If you would like to help, we are asking that you donate your refundable bottles and cans to the VDRC. We have provided a white tote bag where recyclables can be dropped off on the grounds. (It is in one of the open paddocks and is visible upon entering the grounds). Thank you from the VDRC and its members to all that are able to donate during these exceptional times.

Unfortunately the October schooling show event is not feasible for our club at this time. This event is cancelled and we look forward to a much brighter 2021! We appreciate all of the support and efforts of the horse community and members during this unprecedented year. We plan to attack the next year full of energy and excitement.

Due to a last minute cancellation there is a spot available in the Lindsay Beadle clinic in the 2’6- 2’9 group. There is also 1 lesson available on Saturday in the .9-1.0m group. Please contact Sandra at 403-992-2131 if you would like to attend.

Our beautiful hunter and jumper courses are set for schooling tomorrow and clear rounds all weekend! Although we don’t have a competitive season we are very happy to offer these training and educational events to members of our club and community!

Remember your recyclables to help out VDRC when you come for schooling rounds this weekend. All proceeds go to the Club and provide members with volunteer opportunities.
