Pets Can Get Corona Virus from Infected People; How to Keep Your Pets Save During COVID-19 A new study from the University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College suggests that a "substantial proportion" of pets can catch the virus from infected people. The reason for the potential under-count is that the test used to detect the virus - Polymerase Chain Reaction or PCR swab test - can miss cases that other tests will pick up, depending on when the infection was active.... In the Guelph study, blood samples were taken and the serology tests indicated antibodies to COVID-19 in seven out of eight cats and two out of 10 dogs! The previous PCR tests in these cats and dogs were either negative or inconclusive. The same gap exists between PCR and serology antibody tests in human patients. Every pet with positive antibody results had clinical signs associated with COVID-19 around the time of its owner's infection. To keep your pets safe from the virus, the study advises the take the same precautions that are advised for humans: People known to have the virus or who have symptoms consistent with an infection should keep away, not only from other people, but also from pets.

Rabies Clinic Today at our hospital from 6:00 till 7:00! This Rabies clinic will be held outside to make social distancing possible. Please stay 6 feet apart and wear a face mask to protect yourself and other pet owners around you. The cost for vaccination will be $25.00; cash only.... The vaccine gives three years protection in adult dogs. One year old "puppies" still need a booster after their 16 week Rabies vaccination. After that, they have build up enough immunity to be protected for three years. Cats build up protection for one year. We hope to see you later today:)
