The Calgary Military Family Resource Centre, one of our amazing community partners, is offering the Hello Hero Course by Dr. Jody Carrington to all Military and Veteran families in Calgary, Red Deer, Lethbridge and surrounding areas. We've linked the online application below - qualified applicants will be contacted directly by the Calgary MFRC with information on how to access the course! The Hello Hero Course was created for all the heroes who do the brave work of serving in... the military and those who hold them. You’ll talk about how this job can affect a whole family and remind each of you why you matter to our communities, and mostly to each other. This course is about trauma, when and why it can be a big deal (and what to do about it). You’ll talk all about relationship and connection and timing. You’ll wrap up this epic course with a plan to help each of you be better than you’ve ever been, and what the next steps in shifting culture might look like. Sign up through the Calgary MFRC for your access code to the 7 knowledge focused modules in PDF and Video formats and step-by-step guides through each focus area. Thank you to all our amazing, hardworking and dedicated volunteers who helped out in 2020. Our volunteers have worked so hard to provide for our Veterans over the past 2+ years but especially over the past 3 months, as we faced reduced occupancy restrictions but an increased need for our services. Volunteering with the Veterans Association Food Bank has given fellow Veterans a renewed sense of purpose, community and sense of belonging. We are Veterans Helping Veterans. "Than...k you to all, in the last two years you have changed my life. You have given back my life. God bless all of you." - Calgary Veteran & VAFB Volunteer "Volunteer more" is a great New Year's Resolution! Are you interested in volunteering in the New Year? We are excited to welcome back individual and group volunteers when it is safe to do so (hopefully soon). You don't need to be a veteran to volunteer with us! We love and appreciate all our volunteers equally https://veteransassociationfoodbank.ca/individual-volunteer

We love a good partnership story! Back in November, Melissa from Parachutes for Pets reached out after hearing about our Adopt-A-Vet & Their Pet Fundraising Campaign in support of our Pet Care Promise program. Melissa was not only eager to help us create pet stockings and special pet hampers for our Veterans but she was quick to think of more ways she could help us out! We were blown away when Parachutes for Pets decided to sponsor our Pet Care Promise program year-rou...nd! They will be helping us make sure our Veterans' pets have sufficient food supply each month. Thank you so much! We can't wait to work with such an amazing local organization.
