I don’t get to draw or paint on paper much anymore but I get to create art on faces. Pre drawing the eyebrows is one of my favourite parts of my job. It is the most challenging because almost no one has a perfectly symmetrical face. You can use all the measuring tools, lines , apps but at the end of the day it’s using your artistic eye to see that everything is on point! Most people hear the word tattoo and instantly get scared you’re going to shave off their eyebrow , tattoo it black and it will stay that way forever! The reality is I clean up around the brow before but do not shave it off. I understand colour theory not like applying make up the cool or pink undertone type but colour theory down to the detail of what colour your veins are in your eyelids. I know every ink colour I own and I custom blend for each client to make sure it will heal long term the closest to the natural brow colour. I follow close to the natural shape and take into consideration their eye shape & face shape. I pre draw the brows similar to how they would look tattooed so there is no surprises and we will never go ahead with the procedure until my client & I are fully happy with the shape. MICROBLADING VS NANO BROW TATTOO ***I get the question a lot; what the difference is between microblading and nano brow tattooing (what I do). These are my explanations based on my opinions & knowledge. feel free to do your own research to find the best technique for what you are looking for. *** -Microblading: is a pen with needles on the bottom , that the person is slicing your skin with. You here your skin crunching the whole time, like you do when you get your ears pierce...d and it’s less controlled because no ones pressure is perfect so there can be bleeding , there can be scarring (imagine slicing your hand over and over , it would scar) and there is usually discolouration of the tattoo down the road (turns blue or purple) because the ink mixed with the blood & if it is too deep. ***This could also be because the technicians poor colour theory, when choosing the ink for the specific skin.*** -The first touch up for microblading is usually within 4-6 weeks. -Microblading works best on dryer skin types. -Nano brow tattoo: is called nano because I use a tiny (0.25) needle. I use a digital tattoo machine. Which means the needle is going in and out of the skin, you can slow or fast the speed depending on the sensitivity of the clients skin. the needle is only sticking out 1mm , and only ever hitting the top layers of skin. So in the long term more controlled, less likely of bleeding , no crunching of your skin, no scarring (as long as proper aftercare is followed) and still really good retention with true to colour eyebrows. -The first touch up for nano brow tattooing is usually between 2-6 months. After that annually. -Nano brow tattooing can be done on all skin types.
