A: There are two ways to achieve the scuffed effect: the first is hand shaving the colour dyes down to reveal the natural shell underneath; the second is during the tanning process, where aniline dyes are first applied by hand to the shell, and then carefully shaved down to reveal some of the base colour beneath. ...
