So now that I'm beginning to understand more of what happens in the Education Sector and how little money is ALREADY given to alternative schools and Independen...t Learning for children with Special Needs - this kind of thing REALLY BOTHERS me! ESPECIALLY when the NDP have promised they would never cut said funding. (see letter, 17 March 2017) Posted from Christian Michael McCay "Rob Fleming made a $12 million dollar cut to IDL schools right when COVID was shutting everything down. 40% of these children are vulnerable because of special needs, bullying, trauma etc. IDL schools are the best fit for these children. Fleming and the NDP attacked the most vulnerable families and children in a time when a pandemic was hitting. These children now have more expenses than previously to get educated this year. Many of these families are living on a single family income so they can stay home and educate their child with an education tailored to the child's needs as they work with certified teachers. This is not homeschooling. The truth is, IDL schools and private school numbers are growing and becoming a threat for the public education who is always trying to balance budgets. By the way they gave this 12 million dollars directly to the public schools to the "teachers mentor-ship program"
