Victoria Historical Society 26.02.2021

As we move into fall, conditions are not yet right to return to meetings in person. The Historical Society will be continuing monthly meetings for members via Zoom. Following a successful launch of our new programming format in September with speaker Britta Gundersen-Bryden, we will continue this Thursday with a brief AGM followed by Ron Greene on Money in British Columbia before the Railway. The Zoom link will be sent out to the membership before the meeting. Along with this new format we have launched a Youtube channel as another way to enjoy our content virtually! The first video from our September speaker, Britta Gundersen-Bryden, is attached. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEyCoE_Mx78&frags=pl%2Cwn

Dear VHS members and guests, unfortunately conditions are not yet safe for us to meet at the James Bay New Horizons. We hope you have a beautiful summer and will see you when our season starts up in September. You are submit ideas, articles or letters for the next edition of the VHS newsletter. The newsletter will be sent to you at the end of summer. The VHS will put together a group of potential speakers for September 2020 to May 2021. Your ideas for speakers are welcome.

Dear Victoria Historical Society members. Although the level of risk is low, the Victoria Historical Society, along with our speaker have decided to cancel our March 26 meeting and presentation. Provincial Health Authorities are asking British Columbians to consider avoiding large crowds for the time being and the VHS has decided to be proactive and comply with this advice. Jean Barman has prepared a digital version of her presentation and this will be sent to our membership... soon. Please contact through this page's messages if you would like a copy. I’m sure that most agree that, no matter how small a risk may be, reducing it even further is the best strategy. We hope Professor Barman can visit us another time!

Enjoy Victorian music and ambiance at this local historic house museum on Thursday! We hear through the grapevine that there are still some tickets available.
