Wonderful interview with Dr. James Gordon, Harvard trained psychiatrist and world renowned expert on mind/body medicine to heal trauma. He speaks especially to the effect of personal and societal trauma and its effect on women. Well worth the listen!

Looking forward to tonight’s Victoria launch of #aisforadvice at Mothering Touch. I’m especially excitedand just a little bit jazzed-up-nervousto share my boo...k with this amazing community, and particularly the midwives & doulas with whom I have been so privileged to work alongside. . When we moved to Victoria 14 years ago our oldest child, Eva, was just 10 months old. We were listening to a lot of Sesame Street music back then (I’ll admit it- I really like Sesame Street collections) and there was one song that Ernie sang about visiting the moon. The gist of it was: visiting the moon would be neat, but he’d never want to live there because it was so far away from home. . When Jordan got the job offer from U Vic I thought: we’re moving to the moon. But: you don’t say no to an academic job. So we moved across the continent and away from anyone we knew, and I would put Eva in a carrier and go for long walks, try to thrust myself into conversations at the playground, hoping the other moms couldn’t sense my desperation. . 14 years on we love this city and the community we’ve found here. This moon is our moon, and it’s marvellous. Hope to see so many of you there tonight - and a huge thanks to Mothering Touch for hosting. #yyj #home See more
