May 24 at 11:55AM (PST) DESCRIPTION: This is your opportunity to ask a vet your questions about your pet! We love offering this segment, it's an opportunity for everyone to learn as the questions get answered live. BIO: Erinne Branter grew up in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria. She then attended the University of Melbourne Veterinary School in Australia and graduated with Honors in 2006. Following veterinary school, she completed a small animal rotating surgical and medicine internship at the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan, NY. Erinne then pursued an academic three-year small animal internal medicine residency at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received board certification in 2011. During her residency, she developed a strong interest in Interventional Radiology/Interventional Endoscopy and went on to complete the first year-long, full-time IR/IE Fellowship at the Animal Medical Center, NYC. Dr. Branter headed a full-time Interventional Radiology department in Los Angeles for 4.5 years. She has recently worked in Seattle and locally as an internal medicine locum. Recently, Dr. Branter moved back home to British Columbia and is a founding member of WAVES hospital. She is head of the Internal medicine and Interventional Radiology/Endoscopy departments. In addition to being endlessly passionate about her field and her patients, Dr. Branter loves the outdoors, is eco-conscious and can be found hiking or biking when not at work. Chrissy Joy is a celebrity dog trainer, live performer, studio canine trainer, educator through demos and workshops through the Bone-A-Fied Talent Group. She began her career with a B.S. in Equine Studies riding and competing horses. Her passion for working with animals only grew. Since then, she has become a trainer at BFF Pet Services & is a nationally acclaimed dog trainer winning the 2018 National Stunt Dog Championship and being ranked 2nd for National Dog Trainer of the Year. Massage facilitates the connection between body, mind and spirit supporting an overall state of well-being. BIO: Marta Banat is an Animal Massage Professional and Reiki Master teacher, she is the owner of All Paws Massage. Marta started her journey with holistic approaches to pet care after her dog, Rocco, was diagnosed with epilepsy. Seeing the benefits of massage first hand, she decided to take her studies further and received training in Small and Large Animal Massage from NorthWest School of Animal Massage. Marta works with dogs, both sport dogs as well as seniors, horses and cats. She also carries certificates in Reiki, TTouch, acupressure and animal communication. She believes that the key to wellness is maintaining balance between body, mind and spirit. May 24 at 9:35AM (PST) DESCRIPTION: Common pet-related challenges while we shelter in place include separation anxiety, bathing, and nail trimming. Let’s talk about tips for decreasing anxiety and building confidence in the stay-at-home pet. BIO: Dr. Colleen Fisher graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990 and has been a practicing veterinarian for 30 years. She’s spent her career practicing small animal medicine with a special interest in working dog wellness and behaviour. In 2019, she earned her MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University of Edinburgh School of Veterinary Studies with a focus on the ability of persons with PTSD to detect stress in their own service dogs. Outside of work, she loves to travel, has a working knowledge of Spanish and enjoys hiking and snowshoeing in the Brandon Hills. She also enjoys spending time with Romi, her 6-month-old chocolate Labrador who already knows the name of all nine of her favourite toys! See more
