COVID-19 is making all of us anxious! We’ve all read articles and have heard people and the radio stations talking about how our pets are so nervous and worried going to appointments without their owners present. We truly do our best, every day, with every pet, every single visit. We try to make your beloved pets feel calm, secure, and protected. We know this can be a scary place because it smells like 5,311,678,999,589 other animals and we all have masks on now and aren’t easily recognizable. Here is a wonderful pic of Kovu, giving Tasha a high five for a great visit! And maybe that treat, too!

Just a reminder that we will be open this coming Saturday, December 19th from 9am to 3pm. If you need a medication refilled or a special order food or item, please call us a couple days in advance so that we can have it ready for you. Just call us when you arrive. ... Stay warm!

Hey Everyone! We wanted to do a little check in with all of you. Life is certainly very different for all of us and we truly appreciate your patience while we navigate the necessary changes to the way we practice medicine and offer veterinary care throughout this pandemic. As many of you know and have experienced, we are still operating with fairly strict COVID-19 restrictions in place. We are NOT allowing clients into the hospital as we are trying to minimize our team’s ri...sk of potential exposure. We are still providing all levels of care and are here for you guys! Our phone lines are often busy but we are checking voicemail as often as we can. A reminder - we are NOT open on Saturdays and our Thursday evening hours are NOT available as of yet. We are monitoring the pandemic closely and will let you know when we feel it is suitable and safe to resume our regular hours. Our team is working as hard we all can given the circumstances. We would like a hand in officially welcoming Dr. Sarah Buchanan to the Victoria Road Animal Hospital Team! She joined us on June 1st and what a month it has been! Dr. Buchanan has made such a fantastic impression on so many of our clients already and the care she provides to each and every pet she sees is exceptional. ... We are beyond excited to have her here with all of us! We asked her what made her want to join our team, and this is what she said: I am thrilled to be joining Dr. Harris and the wonderful staff of Victoria Road Animal Hospital. I was immediately impressed with the level of care and quality of medicine that each patient receives, and could not wait to be a part of this supportive and caring team. Good Morning Everyone, Just wanted to send a quick note out reminding all of you of a few important things. 1. We ARE back in the hospital but with reduced hours. We are seeing patients for all medical conditions, health checks and bloodwork, by appointment. We have also begun rescheduling surgeries that were cancelled as a direct result of COVID-19.... 2. Our supplier is STILL holding back orders and in some cases it is taking 7 days for food to arrive. The supplier is giving priority shipping to webstore orders so we still encourage you to access the webstore with HOME shipping as this will ensure your items arrive typically within a couple of days. 3. Heartworm prevention has begun (June 1). If you haven't had your pet's bloodwork done, please call and we will schedule you in. 4. We are still asking that you remain in your vehicle upon arrival and call us when you are here. As masks are to be worn in all commercial businesses and so we ask that you please wear a mask when speaking with one of our team members at the hospital entrance. We are very excited to see that we are slowly getting closer to 'normal'. Please continue to respect physical distancing. We will see you all soon!

To all of you During the COVID-19 global pandemic, our priority has always been the health and safety of our dedicated team members and the community for which we serve. On Tuesday, May 19, we will be expanding our hospital hours. We will be open from 10am-4pm Monday to Friday but will remain CLOSED on weekends for a while just yet. ... In our continued efforts to help flatten the curve and minimize the transmission of COVID-19, we will continue our modified approach to providing care for the foreseeable future. Our front door will remain LOCKED. We will continue to offer curbside pickups and we are not allowing clients into the hospital just yet. We are operating on an appointment basis, and will be increasing the number of daily appointments available to include annual visits with vaccinations, tick disease and heartworm blood testing as well as other non-urgent appointments. Heartworm season is fast approaching and heartworm prevention begins June 1. We have started scheduling our Spring bloodwork now. As a reminder; bloodwork appointments will be scheduled with one of our Registered Veterinary Technicians so should you have a medical concern, please be sure to let us know ahead of time so we may schedule you accordingly. As an aside, heartworm prevention IS NOT available for purchase on our webstore. This is because we must have a conversation with you about heartworm testing prior to dispensing it. We have a backlog of surgery patients and will be reaching out to you to schedule. Your patience throughout this time is truly appreciated. Our limited team has been working tirelessly to navigate all these changes. Step by step, we will reach our new day-to-day normal. It’s a ways away just yet. Please keep in mind, that we all have a part in this. We need to continue social distancing. Stay home if you can. Enjoy time with your families.
