Victoria Summer Music Festival

As our days visibly lengthen, VSMF's artistic director and board are considering plans for the coming summer as we monitor BC’s Covid 19 health restrictions. We earnestly aspire to present a festival while respecting all of the protocols. Please watch for our future posts regarding plans for the 2021 Summer Music Festival. We will share that information with you as soon as the existing Covid 19 restrictions are removed to permit concerts to be presented. Membership in VSMF i...s crucial to the Festival's ongoing existence. Please join our society or renew your membership for the calendar year 2021 (January 1 -December 31, 2021) by paying the annual membership fee. The annual fee remains the same as it has always been, namely $5.00. You can find an easy link in our website on the Membership paragraph of our Support Page on our VSMF website. Another option is to mail your $5.00 cheque to: The Victoria Summer Music Festival Society P.O. Box 5203, Victoria BC, V8R 6N4. This year's Annual General Meeting will be a virtual event - and the date, time, and co-ordinates will be announced in the near future. Please watch for our e-mail notice regarding our AGM. We will of course, also include instructions on how to participate. We look forward to seeing you (virtually) at our AGM, and sharing our plans for the 2021 Summer Music Festival with you when we are able to present them.

We regret to announce that due to continuing province-wide health orders, the Victoria Summer Music Festival now has no choice other than to cancel all its extraordinary VSMF WinterFest 20/21" concerts. We are able to offer two options to those who have already purchased tickets: Donate the value of your ticket to the Victoria Summer Music Festival, in which case a charitable tax receipt will be issued to you for the value of your ticket. Please notify us by email by the en...d of business on Monday January 18, 2021, if this is the option you would prefer; and include your current mailing address in your email message. If we do not hear from you by that time, we will refund you the value of your ticket. Obtain a refund for the value of your ticket. If you choose this option, no other action is required. Again, please advise us by email by the end of business on Monday January 18, 2021 if you wish to donate your purchased ticket to VSMF as a charitable donation. The Festival earnestly hopes to return this summer and present concerts at that time. We appreciate your continued support and patience. Please stay well and be safe.

By now you are probably aware of British Columbia's new province-wide health orders that are in effect until December 7, 2020, at midnight. The effect of the health orders is that the Winter Dreams piano trio concerts scheduled to take place on December 4 & 5 cannot be presented at this time. Regrettably, the Victoria Summer Music Festival now has no choice other than to postpone the "Winter Dreams" concerts scheduled for those dates. We are looking to reschedule those con...certs for a later date as soon as reasonably possible. We will be in touch with you as our plans for that develop. Those who have already purchased tickets for those concerts may choose from three options: have the value of your ticket credited to the rescheduled concert. donate the value of your ticket to the Victoria Summer Music Festival and a charitable tax receipt will be issued to you for the value of your ticket. obtain a refund for the value of your ticket. Once you have decided what you wish to do, please contact us. we will then give you instructions to put that in place. We are also temporarily closing the box office for the January Beethoven series until the expiration of the current provincial health order. We will do our best to keep you advised of the festival's revised plans as we head once again into this very uncertain future. We appreciate your continued support and patience. Our online box office is now open for our VSMF WinterFest 20/21 concert series launch at the beautiful Christ Church Cathedral in December 2020. The box office for the January Beethoven series will open by the end of this week, and tickets will not be available until then. Winter Dreams, the December 4th and 5th series, features piano trios by Haydn, Brahms and Schubert, performed by violinist Joan Blackman, cellist Brian Yoon, and our Artistic Director, Arthur Rowe. The se...cond series on January 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd features the entire cycle of the Beethoven sonatas for piano and violin performed by violinist Jonathan Crow, and Arthur Rowe, piano. Details about our VSMF WinterFest 20/21 concerts, including concert descriptions and how and where to buy tickets, can be found by clicking on the link below. VSMF has had to limit the number of tickets to each concert to 44 due to COVID 19 regulations and protocols, so please purchase your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. If you are unable to attend, the evening concerts will be livestreamed on each concert date; and will be available for viewing for one week afterwards. VSMF will send out a announcement and post links to the livestreams on our website.

These have been difficult and trying times and VSMF thanks all of you for your support. A major focus of our VSMF WinterFest 20/21 concerts is to support our artists by presenting concerts where they may perform.
