Lest we forget. Today and everyday, we remember and thank the military men and women who have served and continue to serve Canada. Below is the Victoria College War Memorial Tablet. The tablet is located in the Victoria College Building and honours those students of Victoria College who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918. We're thrilled to share a sneak peek of BlakeTint, a visualization tool for exploring William Blake's use of color over his career. Users can search by time or ...illuminated manuscript to see how the color palettes change. BlakeTint is a collaboration between Sarah Weston (a graduate student in English and Art History at Yale University) and the DHLab. Its all over! These words resonated throughout the world on August 15, 1945. It was no different on home soil. Almost six years after the country entered a s...tate of war, Canadians could finally celebrate the end of the #SWW across all fronts. Crowds of all ages, and from every background and culture, gathered in cities throughout Canada. Streets in Ottawa, Montréal, Toronto, Winnipeg and many other places were packed. Canada was the first country to declare war on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. However, beyond the Battle of Hong Kong, Canadians did not play a leading role in the Pacific. Instead, they supported British and American operations. Nevertheless, 1,682 Canadians were imprisoned in prisoner-of-war camps in Hong Kong and Japan, enduring years of hard labour and starvation. Hundreds died in these camps. These POWs were understandably relieved to see the cruel conflict end. #VJDay75 #CanadaRemembers #EndofSWW

Folk legend, Paul Bunyan: an exhibition is currently on display in the foyer of the E.J. Pratt Library until April 1, 2020. Paul Bunyan became popular in the first half of the 20th century, as evidenced by the many beautiful illustrations and woodcuts showcased in the books in this exhibition.
