Update from Volleyball BC confirming the current restrictions will remain in place until at least Feb 5th. Thanks to all VVA players, coaches, and team managers who are adopting our COVID-19 measures for the first time as practices kick off this week. Great to be back on the court in any capacity!
Happy New Year to the whole VVA community! We are busily preparing for the 2021 season and wanted to share a few updates: - Teams are being finalized this weekend with a goal of having first practices for many teams starting the week of Jan 4. Some families may have already heard from their coaches, others should hear by next week.... - The club has managed to secure enough gym space for each team to have 2 practices per week! This is great news, as most of our usual facilities are not available for community use at this time due to COVID. As a result, expect the locations and times of practices to be different from past seasons, including some weekend slots. That said, we are extremely lucky to have been able to maintain a full training schedule for all teams. - A reminder that we are currently in Phase 2 of the Volleyball BC Return to Play plan. This means all practices will be conducted with physical distancing and other preventive measures in place. In accordance with provincial sport guidelines and requirements of our host facilities, we are implementing a COVID-19 screening process for all players and coaches. We have published the VVA COVID Safety Plan on our website with more details. Our priority is to ensure the health and safety of our community while maximizing the opportunity for players to participate in sport. - We don't yet know what the season will look like this year, so we are doing our best as a club to prepare for different scenarios. We expect to have more information to share after the next Provincial Health Order is updated on January 8th and our governing bodies ViaSport and Volleyball BC have had a chance to roll out their respective updates. We are excited to get players back on the court and getting some touches, and we are energized to make the best experience we can for the 2021 season!
Get those applications in by Nov 27th! We are consolidating the received applications and expect to start making roster offers starting Nov 30th. If you have not yet submitted your application please do so in the next few days. A reminder, we are doing everything we can to prepare for volleyball in the new year. However, if we cannot secure facilities we will not be able to run programs.
We have opened our registration process for the 2021 season. We will be filling roster spots by means of the VBC "Application" process. Please see our website for full details. :)
Notice of AGM As noted in our recently posted November newsletter, our AGM will be held Dec 7th, 7:30 pm. Please be advised that our AGM will be held as an online meeting this year. Meeting invitation links will be sent by email to families that were registered for our past season - Jan 1 to March 15, 2020. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Thank you to all who participated in our fall survey, your input was very valuable! Please see our November Newsletter for a summary of results and an update on our preparations for the 2021 season. https://www.victoriavolleyball.ca//VVA-Newsletter-November We will be posting further content soon, both on our web-site and here as we further develop our plans for registration and team selection. Stay safe and stay healthy.
Hi Players and Parents, The club is getting prepared for the coming season, and we are hoping that you may consider participating again this year. Here is what we know so far: * We can run Club programs (train and play) that adhere to the current viaSport and VBC "Phase 3 guidelines" from now through Dec. 15.... * There can be no team tryouts until Jan 2nd at earliest. * In the new year, Volleyball BC will place teams in "cohorts" of a maximum of 8 teams per cohort (assuming that we stay at "Phase 3"). Please respond to the following survey, and indicate if you are considering participating this season. Please respond by Thursday, October 8th. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MMJ99BG Volleyball this year will be different than it has been, but we are committed to providing the best volleyball experience that we can to Victoria area youth given the current circumstances. We will use the results of this survey to gauge the interest and demand for the upcoming season. Based on both the survey results, and our call for coaches --- we hope to be able to open up registration by late October or very early November. We will be posting to our website and this Facebook page with updated information.
