Victory Park Society

Well unfortunately, but not surprisingly, we will have to cancel this year's Victory Park Society Golf Tournament, which was scheduled for June 13 at Seaview Golf & Country Club. On the bright side, the course is now open, and is looking great! In the meantime, stay tuned for updates as we continue working to build our new park!

Hi everyone, We at the Victory Park Society would like to express our sincere hope that each and every one of you is staying safe and healthy. We also want to do our part in supporting our community at a time of such great need, and are announcing two donations of $2,500 to each of the North Sydney Food Bank Society and the Sydney Mines & Area Food Bank, for $5,000 in total. These organizations rely on community donations to serve those in greatest need. Unfortunately, donat...ions have been greatly reduced recently as many of their donors (schools, food drives, etc.) are closed, just as demand for their services is increasing. For this reason, we are also requesting that those in a position to do so please consider donating as well by reaching out to them directly. While we have certainly felt the impact on our own project as we have placed fundraising activities on hold for the time being, that is far down the list of priorities right now as so many are struggling to stay afloat and put food on the table. The money we've raised is for the community, and right now the community needs these Food Banks. Fortunately, one need not look very far to find stories of individuals and businesses stepping up to help, many of which have supported our project from the beginning. We would not be in a position to make this donation without them, and they are hurting themselves right now. So, if you are able, please consider supporting these local businesses and our food banks. Our Board Chairperson Ryan Duff was the Guest Speaker today at the Lenton Lunch held at the St. John's Anglican Church Hall in North Sydney. The lunches are held each Wednesday during the Lenton season, offering delicious home cooked food and featuring a different speaker each week. Congratulations to our friends at Atlantic Memorial Park Project on their success! The progress they've made is outstanding, and something we will emulate at Victory Park!

Safe to say people are passionate about the Christmas parade, and rightfully so! Come check out all the floats (including our own) at the North Sydney parade this Sunday at 3pm!

Our 3rd annual Fundraising Auction was a tremendous success! We are so indebted to the many businesses, individuals, and organizations who generously donated auction items and to those who provided monetary donations. We are also grateful to our community members who came out to support this fundraiser. As in previous years, our Auctioneer Kenny MacDonald kept things lively at the podium getting a few laughs along the way. Thank you Kenny and thanks to all for your support!!

On behalf of everyone at the Victory Park Society, we want to send our heartfelt thank you to everyone who came to Saturday's auction, the businesses and individuals who donated prizes, and the volunteers for coming together to make it happen. We are still completing our final tally, but thanks to your efforts, we were able to raise just over $10,000, all of which will be put towards purchasing the land for Victory Park! We will also be posting pictures from the evening shortly so stay tuned.
