Snowball and Snowflake are two adorable little kittens that were brought to us from Street Cats of Regina because they were not eating as much as a growing kitten should. After some love and care at the clinic they were soon feeling right as rain and decided to show appreciation to our tech Theresa by using her as a jungle gym! Nothing like a couple of parrot kittens to brighten your day!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN from all of us Victoria Vet Clinic! Are you dressing your pets up this year?

Victoria Veterinary Clinic 14.09.2020

Now that Saskatchewan is in Phase 3 and cases of Covid-19 are low in the province, we are beginning to change a few things in our protocol! ONE person only will be permitted inside the building to attend their pets appointment, on the condition that YOU PROVIDE A MASK of some sort for yourself to wear. Clients will still have the option to wait inside their vehicle for the duration of their pets appointment, if they so choose, or if they do not wish to wear a mask. If ...you have other family members with you, we ask that they please wait in the vehicle. If you bring children, we ask you to wait in the vehicle with them. You still MUST CALL from your vehicle before you can enter the building. The doors of the clinic will remain locked and we are not accepting walk-ins. Hand sanitizer will be provided inside the foyer for clients to use upon entrance. We are now scheduling non-essential services such as wellness exams, vaccine appointments and elective surgeries. There is a wait list for such appointments, so expect to be booking at least a few weeks away from the time you call in. During Phase 3 some things that will be remaining the same are: Due to limited space within the clinic we can only accommodate so many people inside while maintaining a safe distance, therefore curbside pickup is still in effect. CALL US FROM YOUR VEHICLE when you arrive. Medication and food pickup will still be done between the door entrances of the building. Cash is not being accepted at this time, with credit card and visa-debit over the phone still being the preferred method of payment. Paying using the debit machine can be arranged at the door. Since we are doing appointments and pick-ups at the door, one at a time, it is very important that the front door not become crowded. Please leave a 6ft/2 meter distance between yourself and the front door unless you have been asked to come inside. The phone lines are still very busy, so please bear with us! We want to be able to help as many pets as possible so sometimes it may take an extra few minutes on hold. If lines are busy please try phoning again in a few minutes. If you do not have a cellphone we are still happy to accommodate you. Please try to let us know in advance of when you are to pick-up/drop-off so we know when to expect your arrival. You can then knock on our front window to get the attention of reception. Please keep your distance for the door until you are called inside. Thank you for your patience and understanding and helping us keep everyone in our community safe.

We hope everyone is having a fantastic Thanksgiving! A reminder that meat skins, fat and grease, desserts and many of the spices and flavourings we use for our delicious meals can cause gastrointestinal distress in our pets, as well bones can be a choking hazard. Stay safe and let us know how you celebrate the holiday with your furry friends!

It's been Vet Tech Appreciation week and all of us at Victoria Vet Clinic are so grateful for everything that our technicians do! So what is it a Vet Tech does, exactly? - They're nurses, caring for and recovering their patients. - They're X-ray and Laboratory Technicians, running tests on your pets bodily fluids and taking x-rays. ... - They're Phlebotomists, placing IV catheters and drawing blood. - They're Surgical Assistants, prepping pets for surgeries administering anesthesia and monitoring vitals during surgery. - They're oral hygienists, cleaning your pets teeth and taking dental x-rays. - They're groomers, bathing, shaving fur and doing pedicures. - They're janitors, keeping patients and the clinic sanitary. - They're educators, building relationships with clients and teaching you how to help prevent illness and improve behavioral issues. - They're a cheerleader when your pet is becoming healthy, and a shoulder to cry on when it's time to say goodbye. Thank you, Theresa, Erin, Annaliese, Nicole and Makyla for being the unsung heroes of our practice and the glue that keeps us together. Thank you for your passion, dedication and compassion. Thank you for being the teachers and leaders that you are.

A warm welcome to our TWO BRAND NEW assistants! Kyndra loves spending time with her dog Roscoe and cats Ziggy and a recent new adoptee from Street Cats of Regina (who has yet to be permanently named). Brandee loves playing video games while her dog Tael and cat Beans watch the excitement on the screen! ... We were thankful to have them today as they were a great emotional support to Chloe here, who had to get a dental done today. All 3 are familiar with each other so Chloe enjoyed seeing some familiar faces.

TODAY IN #MASKFASHION Tech Erin is sporting a colourful and animated monster doctor mask, while receptionist Breanne is donning a more subtle cat collage. Though so different in style they both seem to convey that the wearer wants to both stop the spread of viruses and look cute while doing it. #maskgoals

Were grateful to welcome another member to our work family! Makyla joined us in May and is a recent graduate from Red River College who loves the variety and challenge that being a Vetrinary Technition brings. When shes not monitering anesthesia, hanging out in the lab, or snuggling with her patients she enjoys going camping and hiking with her doggo, Finn. Today she had the pleasure of helping Reggie here get through his neuter. Were always so grateful for the role our techs bring in keeping our patients happy and healthy!

CW: Some of the following content contain surgical photos. Dolly Parton was here for a spay today! We started the day at 8:00am with bloodwork and exam to make sure she was healthy. Then after a quick pedicure and sedation she was off to surgery where Dr.Rymes and technician Erin took great care of her and removed both her ovaries. This procedure will make sure there are never any unexpected puppies as well as reduce her chances of developing cancer and pyometra, an infecti...on of the uterus. Once she woke up it was finally time for food after a 10 hour fast! We also sent home pain meds to keep her comfortable and put on this adorable pink after surgery shirt to keep her incisions safe from the elements... and her teeth!

With warmer weather and restrictions lifting, more and more people (and their pets) are enjoying the outdoors--- and so are the wildlife! What risk do wild animals pose on your pets? Well, recently at Pasqua Lake, a bat was tested and confirmed positive for rabies. So what is rabies? According to Saskachewan.ca: Rabies is a viral disease that attacks the central nervous system of mammals. It is highly contagious and always lethal. It can spread to wildlife, domestic mammals..., and even humans. A mammal can get the virus through penetrative contact of the teeth, bodily fluids of an infected animal getting into sores and open wounds. In Canada we are lucky enough not to constantly worry about this virus, however precautions should be taken as it is still here and it is always a devastating outcome. Whether you and your pet go to more at risk locations, such as on nature walks and camping in the woods, or even if your pet spends their days in the cozy comfort of your home, wildlife can be persistent and unpredictable and can find ways indoors and into suburban yards. In the photos attached, a family of bats found their way inside one of our technicians home in Regina. Vaccinating your pet(s) for rabies is safe and worth it. For their health and your peace of mind. For more information about what we do to help your pet stay protected, or if youre concerned that your pet has come into contact with a wild animal, call us at (306) 522-8802. For more information on rabies, clinical signs and prevention, check out the links posted in the comment section!

From all our staff, wed like to thank everyone for your patience and understanding during these uncertain times. Although Saskatchewan is beginning to slowly transition to normal, for now the no contact, curbside protocols at the clinic will remain the same. We are doing our best to see and help as many pets as possible. We are focusing our time on appointments that are of a more urgent matter, while still being cautious for the safety of ourselves, you and your pets. A few... things to remember: *Upon arrival, call us from your vehicle. Please do not line up at the door, as this makes it difficult for others to maintain proper social distancing. If you do not have a cellphone please phone before coming, so we know to expect you and can have your supplies ready ahead of time. *Due to limited staffing and extended phone line use, you may have to wait on hold for few minutes or call again when a line is available. We will get to you as soon as possible. *When youre here for an appointment it is requested that you wait in your vehicle, outside of the clinic, for the duration of the appointment. We know it can be tedious, but this allows us to get your pet back to you and the next pet in as efficiently as possible. *We are not allowing clients into the building, other than for special circumstances (such as end of life appointments). In these situations, we require that you wear some sort of functional mask. *If you are feeling ill or have recently traveled, but need goods or services from the clinic, wed appreciate that you ask a family or friend to pick up/drop off in your place. *We are not taking cash payments. However, you are able to pay over the phone with a credit-card or debit-visa, preferably. If unable to pay over the phone, we can provide a debit machine in the foyer. *Our hours are still extended from 8:00am until 7:00pm with a closed lunch break from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, seven days a week and Closed for holidays. We will post new updates when current protocols begin to change. We hope to increase our limited staff situation soon, as cases of Covid-19 continue to be low, and look forward to returning to a more normal work environment. We are so grateful for your continued support! Were all in this together!
