When a disaster strikes, you are there. Thank you for responding to basic human needs through volunteering, shopping and donating at MCC Thrift.
Starting to think about decorating for Christmas? If your local MCC Thrift Shop is currently open, don't forget to check out their holiday displays ... #MCCThrift #MyMCCThriftFind #MCCPeace #ChristmasDecorating #ChristmasOrnaments
Even if you’re only dressing up at home this year, there’s still time to make a costume. Use these punny ideas if you’re short on time. Or check out your local MCC Thrift shop for more inspiration. Graduation cap + cookie = smart cookie Dressy clothes + sign with "sorry" = a formal apology... A disguise + sign with "bless you" = a blessing in disguise A piece of bread + medals = breadwinner Butterfly wings + social media icons = social butterfly Do you have an idea? Let us know in the comments! (Photo was taken in 2018.)
Don't know about you, but our staff + volunteers are drinking a lot of tea / coffee these days. And we're pretty thankful for the thrifted coffee makers, mugs, and tea pots we've scored Psstt...did you know that a lot of our shops sell fair trade coffee and tea? ... #MCCThrift #SupportLocal #Thrift #SustainableShopping #SecondHand #MCCPeace #MyMCCThriftFind
You're amazing. Every time you shop, donate and volunteer at MCC Thrift, you are supporting people in your neighbourhood and around the globe. These are just a few of the ways you are making a difference.
Make mittens from sweater sleeves this weekend and you'll be ready for cooler temperatures... when they arrive. P.S. This is a great way to use up sweater sleeves leftover from our fabric pumpkins tutorial. Missed that video? Watch it here. https://www.facebook.com/mccthrift/videos/682381515735840
You never know who you'll meet while volunteering at an MCC Thrift Shop. Like Polly the six-toed cat! She's a pawsome volunteer who does a purrfect job at MCC Thrift in Winnipeg.
By shopping at MCC Thrift, you are providing safe, clean water to people living in a refugee camp in Chad. That water is crucial for proper handwashing, helping people stay healthy. Today, on #GlobalHandwashingDay, we want to thank you for supporting MCC's projects by shopping at MCC Thrift. We couldn't do this without you.
These cute pumpkins are made from old sweaters. It's a great way to save a shirt with a few too many holes from the landfill and decorate for fall at the same time. Win-win! (Though if your clothes are in great condition, we'd suggest donating them at your nearest MCC Thrift shop instead. Just saying.)
To MCC Thrift Volunteers everywhere, THANK YOU Next time you visit, call, or message your local MCC Thrift Shop, please remember to thank the volunteers there. They work tirelessly to keep everyone safe -- and to help us support Mennonite Central Committee - MCC through sustainable and affordable shopping. #MCCThrift #SupportLocal #Thrift #SustainableShopping #SecondHand #Volunteer #VolunteerRecognition #MCCPeace
Thank you, teachers, for inspiring, encouraging and enlightening the next generation. #NationalTeachersDay When you shop for things like backpacks and school supplies at MCC Thrift, you are supporting teachers and students in places like Cambodia through MCC's projects.
Do you have a favourite thrifted mug? Celebrate #NationalCoffeeDay by showing us your "mugshot!" Post a photo of your mug in the comments and let us know which MCC Thrift shop you found it at. P.S. This coffee canister is also a thrifted find. Painting the lid and label gave it a fresh new look.
When you donate housewares like plates and cups, you're also providing communities with water to grow their own food through MCC's projects. Thank you for supporting people here and around the world.
Thrift tip: Home decor doesn't have to be your favourite colour. When you're shopping for thrifted vases, look for sizes and shapes you like. It's easy to give them a new look with a fresh coat of paint that matches the rest of your decor. #MCCThrift #ThriftTip
Today, on #InternationalDayOfPeace, we want to thank you for supporting peacebuilding through MCC Thrift. Thanks to your support, 650 peace clubs in schools, communities, churches and refugee camps teach participants peaceful ways to resolve conflict. To learn more about how peace clubs started 14 years ago, read the interview linked below with founder Issa Ebombolo.
Are your kids ready for the first day of school? Do they have their outfit already picked out? Whether it's In-person, at-home, or virtual there's no doubt it's going to be a unique school year. Stacey Kasdorf went to the Niverville MCC Thrift Shop and get great outfits for her littles. See more pictures of the first day of school haul they got for under $40 here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CEo2BmQg87X/... #firstdayofschool #firstdayofschool2020 #thosesmiles #mymccthriftfind #mccpeace #MCCthrift

Look what we found accidentally donated in Harrisonburg, VA. In our last newsletter we shared the story of an accidentally donated cat named Brody. Spoiler: he made it home safe and sound.
