A YOUNG GERMAN POET MUSES ON HAINES JUNCTION'S MOBILE VACCINE CLINIC WELCOME Lara Annabelle Trautmann, a 14-year-old from Hamburg, Germany, wrote the below poem for her English class about the warm welcome Haines Junction provided to the vaccination team earlier this month. The wind was blowing, and it was snowing, but the virus wasn’t away. Residents of Haines Junction came together to do a thing with a really nice function. Ice candles made by the community, were standing next to the road and were showing unity. But why all the effort? What does it mean? There was a Team bringing vaccines against Corona-19! Volunteers rang bells and waved them in, freezing but happy as they’ve never been. There was finally light in the sadness, death and fear and way too much madness. The Team who brought the vaccines on the road, worked hard away from home. The people drove long through the nights and never had a welcome like this in their lives. They were really glad and surprised, when they saw the residents standing in the ice. So do it like the people in Haines Junction and make things with the function to spread instead of fear and sadness; happiness, love and gladness."
